Export Control and Sanctions, MEA Zone Leader
The Export Control and Sanctions Zone Leader is responsible for leading and implementing Schneider Electric's export control and sanctions compliance program within the assigned Zone. The role ensures effective deployment of required processes and controls at the cluster and country level, provides expert regulatory guidance, and partners closely with Zone leadership and business stakeholders.
This position reports directly to the Vice President, Export Control and Sanctions, and works in close coordination with other Zone Leaders and the Global Program Leader to ensure consistent application of the Group's compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation & Oversight
- Lead the implementation and execution of Schneider Electric's export control and sanctions compliance program across the Zone.
- Monitor applicable export control and sanctions regulations, assess regulatory changes, and ensure timely communication and integration into Zone processes.
- Develop a strong understanding of Zone business models and operational processes to effectively embed compliance requirements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Zone leadership and business stakeholders on export control and sanctions matters.
Leadership & People Management
- Manage and develop a team responsible for Zone‑level export control and sanctions activities, including transaction reviews and escalations.
- Foster technical expertise and regulatory awareness within the team through coaching, guidance, and capability development.
- Promote a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement across the Zone.
Risk Management & Escalations
- Manage escalations related to export control clauses and compliance risks.
- Act as the primary point of contact for export control and sanctions matters with relevant government authorities at the Zone level.
- Support and/or lead compliance reviews and audits at Schneider Electric entities and oversee implementation of resulting corrective and improvement actions.
Training & Awareness
- In coordination with the Export Control and Sanctions Program, deliver regular training for Zone employees at all levels.
- Provide targeted training and regulatory updates to employees with export control and sanctions responsibilities (e.g., Sales, Logistics, Finance).
Coordination & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Zone Legal teams on contractual, regulatory, and compliance‑related matters.
- Support export control classification questions and escalations, coordinating with the Export Control Classification Team as required.
- Support screening questions and escalations, coordinating with the Export Control and Sanctions Screening Team as required.
- Validate export control testing and assessments for Zone entities in coordination with the global Program team and support development of action plans where needed.
- Prepare and present periodic compliance updates, metrics, and reports related to Zone export control and sanctions activities.
