🔍 Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Project Manager to lead large-scale, high-impact, and strategically critical data & analytics projects across global environments.
These initiatives are characterized by:
- High organizational visibility
- Complex stakeholder landscapes
- Significant financial exposure
- Multi-technology and multi-region execution
- Strong executive sponsorship
This role requires an exceptional communicator and structured leader who thrives in complex environments, navigates political dynamics with maturity, and ensures disciplined delivery of critical data initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership of High-Complexity Data Projects
- Lead end-to-end delivery of large, complex data and analytics projects with enterprise-wide impact.
- Manage projects involving multiple business units, technical domains, vendors, and offshore teams.
- Oversee high interdependencies across systems, platforms (cloud/on-prem), and transformation streams.
- Ensure alignment between strategic objectives and measurable business value realization.
- Lead and coordinate structured requirements gathering processes, working closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and technical architects to ensure clarity, feasibility, and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Translate complex business demands into structured project scopes, ensuring traceability from business need to delivery.
Executive Communication & Stakeholder Influence (Core Focus)
- Act as the key point of accountability for executive sponsors and senior stakeholders.
- Communicate complex data topics in a clear, structured, and business-oriented manner.
- Navigate politically sensitive environments, managing competing priorities and influencing decision-making.
- Facilitate steering committees and high-level governance forums.
- Build trusted partnerships across business, IT, data teams, and external providers.
- Drive strong stakeholder engagement across business and IT functions to support effective demand management and prioritization processes.
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate incoming demands, assess impact, feasibility, and strategic alignment.
- Manage expectations, resolve conflicts, and align stakeholders in environments with competing priorities and limited capacity.
Governance, Methodology & Delivery Frameworks
- Apply and adapt structured methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid) to complex data project environments.
- Establish robust governance practices including RAID management, dependency tracking, and change control.
- Drive disciplined scope management in high-pressure and evolving contexts.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise PMO standards and compliance requirements.
Financial & Risk Management
- Own and manage significant project budgets with strong financial rigor.
- Develop detailed forecasts and proactively manage cost, risk exposure, and value realization.
- Anticipate and mitigate risks across technical, operational, and organizational dimensions.
Global & Cross-Cultural Leadership
- Lead distributed and offshore teams across regions and time zones.
- Adapt communication and leadership style to multicultural and diverse environments.
- Drive collaboration and performance in complex matrix organizations.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Data, or related field.
- 8-12+ years of experience managing large, complex projects, with strong exposure to data & analytics initiatives.
- Proven ability to deliver in highly matrixed and politically complex organizations.
- Demonstrated experience managing high-budget, high-risk, and high-visibility initiatives.
- Strong financial management expertise and accountability.
- Advanced knowledge of project methodologies and governance frameworks (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe or equivalent).
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
- Proven experience leading complex requirements definition phases and working closely with business stakeholders to structure and prioritize demand pipelines.
- Strong understanding of demand management processes within enterprise or PMO environments.
Preferred Experience
- Delivery of enterprise data platforms, analytics ecosystems, data governance frameworks, or digital transformation programs.
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, data quality, governance, and analytics from a PM leadership perspective.
- Experience in hybrid technology environments (cloud, on-prem, multi-vendor).
- Exposure to global enterprise PMO environments.
- Experience leading offshore and multicultural teams.
