Engineering Manager - Protection, Control & Automation
For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $142,400 - $213,600 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Engineering Manager - Protection, Control & Automation (PCA)
Hybrid work schedule based in one of Schneider Electric's HUB or COE locations
The PCA Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of engineers and system commissioning specialists to deliver projects involving protection, control, and automation solutions, while achieving organizational goals.
Our team specializes in applications such as automatic transfer schemes, generator control, Load management, intelligent Load shedding & restorage, networking, SCADA, protection schemes and etc, using Protection relays, PLC, RTUs, generator controllers, HMIs, network switches. We also use communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850 and others.
Our team specializes in applications such as automatic transfer schemes, generator control, load management, intelligent load shedding and restoration, networking, SCADA systems, and protection schemes. These solutions are developed using protection relays, PLCs, RTUs, generator controllers, HMIs, and network switches. We also utilize communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, and others.
The key responsibilities of this role are outlined below:
Engineering resource plan:
- Understand backlog evolution and forecasts to proactively and efficiently plan resource needs.
- Collaborate closely with Sales to understand forecasts, key opportunities, and strategic accounts.
- Regularly review resource allocation to ensure an optimal balance between workload and utilization.
Project Execution:
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality project outputs in a timely manner
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Key activities include:
- Assigning resources to new projects
- Participating in project handoff meetings
- Working with Project Managers (PMs) on scheduling
- Attending project review meetings
- Managing escalations
- Ensure adherence to Schneider Electric (SE) safety policies and practices

Team Management :
- Partner with leadership to define and align on team goals
- Establish clear objectives for both the team and individual members
- Support employee development through:
- Career discussions (especially for early-career professionals)
- Coaching and mentoring
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and manage the Global Salary Review process
- Lead team meetings and 1:1 sessions
- Ensure adherence to processes and perform quality checks
- Encourage continuous improvement initiatives from team members
- Monitor performance and make adjustments as needed
- Support team members with legal status processes as needed
Create a positive work environment that fosters collaboration, cooperation, and strong communication. Act as the bridge between leadership and the team, ensuring transparent and effective communication. Drive innovation by proposing new ideas and improving processes, engineering practices, and templates. Continuously seek efficiency improvements.
Profit & Loss (P&L) management:
- Co-own the P&L with other team leaders
- Ensure revenue and margin targets are met
- Perform short- and long-term revenue forecasting
- Support Project Managers in accelerating revenue when required
- Manage Work In Progress (WIP)
- Collaborate with Finance to review and resolve financial issues
Collaboration with other SE entities/teams:
- Collaborate with other Schneider Electric (SE) entities and teams within and beyond Digital Power to ensure cross-functional alignment
- Engage proactively in networking and cooperation initiatives, regardless of project requirements
- Share ideas, resources (when applicable), and pursue collective success
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Leadership & Management skills
- Coaching / Mentoring, Performance management
- Strong Interpersonal & communication skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders, facilitate cross-functional & cross-business unit collaboration
- Experience in Sales is a plus
- Conflict resolution & decision making under pressure
- Autonomous, motivator & proactive
- Project and Business management
- Strong background and capability on project execution
- Scheduling, budgeting, resource management / Risk & Opportunity management
- Experience in project management is a plus
- Understanding of P&L / Cost structure, ROI and other financial implications. Experience in managing P&L is a plus
- Technical competency in Protection, Control & Automation
- Technical experience & expertise on Protection Relays, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) & SCADA System
- Experience on EPAS (Ecostruxure Power Automation System) is a plus
