Engineer II, Electrical Systems Design
Position Summary
As an Engineer II - Low Voltage MCC & Automation Systems , you will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise in the design, implementation, troubleshooting, commissioning, and optimization of Low Voltage Motor Control Centers (MCCs) and industrial automation systems. This role combines electrical power distribution knowledge with advanced automation and industrial networking expertise to support manufacturing, process, and industrial applications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting conceptual and detailed designs, selecting and specifying equipment, troubleshooting complex control system issues, and ensuring reliable integration of MCCs, drives, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication networks. This position requires strong hands-on experience with automation architectures and industrial communication protocols including PROFINET, PROFIBUS, DeviceNet , EtherNet /IP, Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU
You will collaborate with customers, internal engineering teams, project managers, manufacturing, and field service personnel to develop innovative and reliable automation solutions while supporting commissioning, startup activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Low Voltage MCC & Power Distribution
- Design, specify, and engineer Low Voltage MCC systems for industrial applications.
- Develop MCC layouts, one-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Select and integrate motor starters, VFDs, soft starters, protection devices, intelligent motor management systems, and power monitoring equipment.
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and startup activities.
- Troubleshoot electrical distribution, MCC, and motor control issues in both manufacturing and customer environments.
Automation & Control Systems
- Design, troubleshoot, and optimize automation architectures utilizing PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial drives, and intelligent devices.
- Support system integration activities between MCCs, PLCs, drives, field instrumentation, and enterprise systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex automation, controls, and communication issues.
- Develop technical solutions to improve system reliability, maintainability, and performance.
- Participate in root cause failure analysis and corrective action implementation.
Industrial Networking & Communications
- Configure, troubleshoot, and support industrial communication networks and fieldbus systems.
- Apply knowledge of:
- PROFINET
- PROFIBUS DP/PA
- DeviceNet
- EtherNet /IP
- Modbus TCP/IP
- Modbus RTU
- Industrial Ethernet architectures
- Analyze network performance and diagnose communication faults between controllers, drives, MCC intelligent devices, and field equipment.

- Develop network architectures and communication strategies that support plant-wide automation objectives.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical systems, MCCs, controls, or automation engineering.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting Low Voltage MCC systems.
- Working knowledge of motor control, protection systems, power distribution, and industrial automation.
- Experience with PLC-based control systems and industrial networking technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, network diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Willingness to travel for commissioning, startup, and customer support activities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, ABB, or similar automation platforms.
- Experience with intelligent MCCs and smart motor control technologies.
- Familiarity with VFDs, soft starters, motor protection relays, and power monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, process industries, data centers, utilities, or industrial infrastructure projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification is a plus.
- Industrial networking certifications or automation-related certifications are preferred.

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 86,400 - USD 129,600 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
