Electrical Engineer I
We are looking for a talented and passionate internal electrical engineer to become part of our team. This role will be within Central Engineering, focusing on Power systems. The chosen candidate is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed electrical drawings, Pan layouts and 3D models for low voltage and medium voltage equipment.
The role supports engineering and manufacturing teams by developing accurate design documentation using SEE Electrical and SEE Electrical 3D software, ensuring compliance with project specifications, customer requirements, NEC, UL 891, UL 1558, and applicable industry standards.
What will you do?
- Create and revise switchboard and electrical distribution equipment drawings using SEE Electrical and SEE Electrical 3D.
- Develop:
- Front Elevation
- Single-line diagrams
- Wiring schematics
- Control schematics
- Panel layouts
- Terminal plans
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Manufacturing Documentation
- Cable routing
- Generate and maintain accurate 3D models of switchboards, switchgear, including Cable routing path
- Coordinate electrical and mechanical interfaces within switchboard assemblies.
- Support engineering changes and update drawings based on customer comments, manufacturing feedback, and field modifications.
- Verify designs for compliance with company standards, customer specifications, UL requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
- Produce manufacturing documentation required for panel fabrication and assembly.
- Perform drawing checks and quality reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, production personnel, and procurement teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain drawing revisions, engineering records, and document control procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, CAD Technology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical drafting, switchboard design, or panel design.
- Proficiency with SEE Electrical and SEE Electrical 3D
- Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and switchboard assembly drawings.
- Working knowledge of switchboard construction and power distribution systems.
- Understanding of electrical codes and standards including:
- NEC
- UL 891
- UL 1558
- NEMA
- IEEE (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering specifications and customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with low-voltage switchgear, switchboards, and power distribution equipment.
- Familiarity with Siemens, Schneider Electric, Eaton, ABB, or similar switchboard products.
- Experience in manufacturing or custom-engineered electrical equipment environments.
- Knowledge of electrical design, cable management, and enclosure construction.
- Experience generating manufacturing and shop-floor documentation.
