Engineer I, Digital Systems Design

Today Tokyo, Japan

The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Project Engineering team in technical responsibilities of one or more process engineering projects, in the Oil & Gas, Power and other industries, including project specification, design, functionality, testing, commissioning and after sales support to install base in Japan.

What will you do:

  • Review and prepare project specifications to ensure the control / safety system meets the technical requirements of the project.
  • Provide engineered control solutions on projects based on project specifications, ensure the control /safety system design meets the project specification and oversee the hardware selection/specification and development of the control system software.
  • Generation and production of Network Architecture Drawings, Cabinet Drawings, I/O List, Termination List, Loop Drawings and any agreed engineering documents
  • Responsible for the development of the control / safety system Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and it's communication to achieve the functionality of the control system; using logic drawings, control narratives and the basis of design documents to contribute to HMI development; performing system testing and factory acceptance testing, and developing test documents for all projects as required.
  • Directs system integration, Vendor Coordination & Control and in-house test phases of production.
  • Interfacing with customers on technical details; and providing customer support on assigned projects and future project needs.
  • Respond to field technical questions and enquiries from customers in a timely manner, refer customer requests to company specialists (consultants) as required.
  • Support proposal team for new project to provide estimated engineering costs.
  • Support sales team from technical side.
  • Technical support to install base customer.

  • A recognized Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years' experience, handling the design and engineering of the control / safety system, both hardware and software.
  • O&G, Power and other Processes knowledge, especially in Steam Turbine/ Gas Turbine/ Generator/ Compressor application is advantageous.
  • Start-up experience in O&G, Power and other processes knowledge, especially in Steam Turbine/ Gas Turbine/ Compressor / Generator.
  • Good Japanese (>N-1 level) / English skill both in writing and verbal.
  • Knowledge of DCS/SIS/PLC systems and HMI Software is advantageous.
  • Team player with good leadership and communication skills and able to travel when required.
    Team player with strong analytical & logical ability, possess of good judgment, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented, forward looking and good leadership abilities
  • Innovative and dynamic with effective communication skills, especially in inter-cultural aspects
    Pleasant disposition/dynamic personality and able to work under fast-paced, demanding environment & tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to deal with all levels of associates and customers, both internally and externally;
