Design Firms Engineer

Yesterday Jakarta, Indonesia

In Schneider Electric, everything we do is geared towards advancing progress and sustainability for all-our colleagues, customers, partners, and the communities and societies we serve.

Whether it's through our products, software, and services that propel the digital transformation of energy management and automation, or through our corporate citizenship and volunteer activities, we make a meaningful impact by empowering people and organizations to become more resilient, electric, and digital.

Which is where you come in. Working at Schneider Electric means working toward a cleaner, better world. You're part of a global team built on inclusion, mastery, purpose, action, curiosity, and teamwork, turning sustainability ambitions into actions.

The Role: Design Firm Engineer

The Design Firm Engineer builds and manages Schneider Electric's relationship with Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Consultants and Quantity Surveyors (QS) across Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and Batam. The role drives early-stage specification influence, deepens multi-level relationships within design firms (technical engineers through senior managers), and builds consultant capability so that Schneider Electric solutions are consistently designed-in, specified, and retained through tender and procurement.

What will you do?

1. Consultant & QS Relationship Management

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of M&E Consultants and Quantity Surveyors across the assigned coverage area (Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Batam), acting as the primary technical point of contact.
  • Build and maintain multi-level relationships within design firms - technical/design engineers, senior managers, and where possible principal/executive stakeholders - to strengthen account depth and long-term partnership.
  • Coordinate with Quantity Surveyors on cost planning, bill of quantities (BOQ), and budgetary positioning to ensure Schneider Electric solutions remain commercially competitive and correctly represented in cost estimates.

2. Specification Influence

  • Engage M&E Consultants early in the design process (concept and schematic design stages) to shape technical requirements, reference standards, and preferred solutions ahead of specification finalization.
  • Prepare and defend technical specifications, single-line diagrams, datasheets, and product submissions that position Schneider Electric as the preferred or named brand.
  • Track and report "Specified by SE" status at the opportunity level, ensuring specifications are defensible through tender, value engineering, and procurement stages.

3. Capacity Building & Technical Support
  • Deliver technical training, CPD sessions, product demonstrations, and design-support workshops to consultants and QS teams to strengthen their confidence in specifying and costing Schneider Electric solutions.
  • Support design reviews, system architecture discussions, product selection, and standards/code compliance queries raised by consultants.
  • Share updates on new offers, codes, standards, and digital design tools (e.g., specification tools, sizing/calculation software) relevant to consultants' scope of work.

4. Territory & Pipeline Management
  • Own and prioritize consultant accounts within Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and Batam based on project pipeline value, strategic segment focus, and account tiering.
  • Build, update, and maintain an accurate project/opportunity pipeline (via CRM/bFO) generated through consultant and QS engagement, including specification stage and conversion probability.
  • Plan and execute territory coverage visits, project clinics, and consultant events to maximize reach and specification conversion across the four coverage regions.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
  • Coordinate with Sales, Key Account Managers, Marketing, and Product Line teams to align consultant engagement with broader account and project strategies.
  • Provide regular reporting on consultant/QS engagement activity, specification wins, risks, and opportunities to the Design Firm Senior Consultant and management.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, ethics, and quality policies in all consultant-facing activities.

What are the key skills we are looking for?
  • Consultative & Influencing Skills - able to independently guide and advise design firms/consultants on project-specific technical needs.
  • Relationship Building - comfortable engaging stakeholders from design engineers up to senior/executive levels.
  • Communication & Presentation - strong verbal, written, and presentation skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Risk & Opportunity Management - able to identify risks/opportunities in specification and pipeline development and act proactively.
  • Self-Management - capable of managing a multi-city territory with strong planning, prioritization, and reporting discipline.

What qualifications will make you successful?

1. Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

2. Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in the same field, e.g., as a design firm/specification engineer, M&E consultant, MEP design engineer, or QS-facing technical/commercial role.
  • Prior exposure to consultant/design firm engagement, specification writing, or M&E project design/costing is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with Quantity Surveyors on BOQ, cost estimation, or tender documentation is an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and Batam to meet consultants and attend project/site meetings.

3. Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Solid understanding of electrical distribution systems (LV/MV), building/mechanical systems, and relevant Indonesian and international codes/standards (SNI, IEC, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit, BOQ/cost-estimation practices, and MS Office tools; experience with specification or sizing software (e.g., Ecodial, EcoStruxure Specification Tool) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of CRM/opportunity-tracking tools for pipeline management.

What's in it for me?
  • Meaningful work where your technical expertise shapes project outcomes and customer success
  • Career development through training, mentorship, and exposure to cutting-edge solutions
