Data Centre Specialist - BMS Services Technician
The Opportunity
At Schneider Electric, our Digital Energy business is at the forefront of supporting some of Australia's most critical Data Centre environments. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Center Specialist - BMS Services Technician to join our NSW Services team, working across a portfolio of premium Data Centre customers.
Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will act as a trusted technical advisor within mission-critical environments where system uptime, operational resilience and compliance are paramount. This highly visible customer-facing role will involve supporting Building Management Systems, Energy Power Management Systems (EPMS), electrical and mechanical plant, and critical infrastructure controls to ensure the reliable operation of some of Australia's most advanced Data Centre facilities.
This position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in Data Centre /mission-critical operations, commissioning, engineering, service delivery or critical facility management who are passionate about technology, automation and delivering exceptional outcomes in high-availability environments.

T he Role
No two days are the same. As a Data Center Specialist - BMS Services Technician you will be responsible for the maintenance, optimisation and continuous improvement of critical control and monitoring systems across Schneider Electric's premier Data Centre customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Servicing, maintaining and troubleshooting Building Management Systems (BMS) and Energy Power Management Systems (EPMS).
- Programming, commissioning and modifying control strategies within Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation environments.
- Supporting integration and monitoring of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure, including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling systems, UPS systems, generators, switchboards and power distribution systems.
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, change management records, operational procedures and commissioning reports in accordance with Data Centre standards and customer requirements.
- Investigating alarms, faults and system abnormalities to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Supporting planned maintenance, incident response activities and critical facility operational procedures.
- Assisting with system upgrades, expansions, testing and commissioning activities within live critical environments.
- Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, resiliency, operational performance and energy efficiency.
- Building trusted relationships with Data Centre operators, facilities teams and stakeholders while acting as a technical advisor.
- Delivering work safely and within strict operational, compliance and change control processes.
- Participating in a rotating on-call roster supporting critical customer environments.
About You
We're looking for a technically capable and customer-focused professional who enjoys solving complex problems and making a genuine impact for clients.
- Electrical, Mechanical HVAC, Controls, Instrumentation, or related technical /trade qualifications .
- Experience working with Building Management Systems, building automation, controls, instrumentation, HVAC, or related technologies.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
- Knowledge of networking hardware and IT infrastructure, including switches, routers, and communication protocols.
- Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Applicants with the following experience will be highly regarded:
- Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation
- EcoStruxure Power Monitoring Expert (PME) or EPMS solutions.
- PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
- SCADA platforms and critical infrastructure monitoring.
- Critical mechanical cooling infrastructure.
- Electrical distribution networks, protection systems and power quality monitoring.
- Data Centre operations, commissioning or critical facilities management.
- Exposure to Data Centre operational standards, maintenance methodologies and structured change management processes.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working directly with customers and takes pride in delivering exceptional service.
This role involves working across active customer sites and critical infrastructure environments. Applicants should be comfortable performing a range of field-based activities, including:
- Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment and replacement components.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and around electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch and work in operational environments for extended periods.
- Ability to safely access plantrooms, roof spaces, risers and other building services areas.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to wear and utilise personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ability to comply with customer site safety requirements, permits, isolations and critical-environment operating procedures.
