Customs & Trade Compliance - Manager

Schneider Electric has an opportunity for an India Customs & Trade Compliance Manager.
This role will be based in the Schneider Electric India headquarters office in Gurgaon India.
Reporting to the Asia Pacific Regional Customs & Trade Compliance Director within the Tax & Customs team, this position drives Schneider Electric's global trade compliance strategy in the region, specifically across all Schneider Electric's India-wide entities, ensuring regulatory adherence, risk mitigation, and customs optimization.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Bring strong knowledge, provide expertise and oversight on a broad range of customs matters, including valuation / transfer pricing, origin determination, preferential trade agreement usage, anti-dumping / countervailing duties, duty / tax suspension and other incentive regimes (e.g., RoDTEP, Advance License, Drawback, EOU)
- Monitor and keep current on the rapidly changing trade environment, trade-related regulatory and legislative changes, customs rulings, and court decisions, and proactively communicate impact to stakeholders, while taking appropriate actions to protect and deliver benefit to the business
- Develop and implement customs optimization and risk mitigation programs and strategies for Schneider Electric India-wide entities
- Manage litigations, potential Court appearances
- Perform and manage customs health checks, pro-actively monitor risk and implement corrective actions in collaboration with Global Supply Chain, Finance, Tax, and other relevant departments
- Manage and communicate with India Customs and other related government departments to resolve customs challenges and litigation
- Have robust analytical skills to scrutinize and validate data, rulings, and court case precedent and scope to determine applicability and support Schneider Electric India-wide entities
- Be responsible for the development, execution, and maintenance of Schneider Electric India-wide compliance program, ensuring that all entities are compliant with applicable customs and trade regulations
- Create and deploy policies and procedures, deliver training, develop, and drive process improvements and other customs optimization and risk mitigation processes and procedures as appropriate
- Analyse customs import / export data, at an entity level, to identify trends, minimize risk, and identify opportunities, and validate Global Supply Chain customs metrics data as and where appropriate
- Drive cost savings and efficiencies through continuous improvement, and effective and compliant management of customs internal processes, preferential trade agreement usage, suspensive regimes, and other India incentive programs
- Work with Schneider Electric's Global HS Classification Centre of Excellence and India Global Supply Chain to identify and evaluate opportunities to review optimization while ensuring strict compliance with Schneider Electric's HS classification policies and procedures on an India-wide basis
- Provide subject matter expertise regarding all aspects of customs and trade compliance. Collaborate professionally and effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure optimization and compliance

Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree with significant experience in customs, international trade, and trade compliance
- Big Four accounting customs consultancy and / or customs law firm experience highly preferred
- Licensed Customs Broker and / or Chartered Accountant a plus
- Minimum 10 years experience in customs and trade compliance
- Capacity to engage, influence, manage relationships with all stakeholders in a matrix environment, and position oneself as a leader
- Strong knowledge of India customs regulations, valuation / transfer pricing, preferential trade agreements, suspensive regimes, and other incentive programs (e.g., RoDTEP, Advance License, Drawback, EOU)
- Straightforward and effective communication. Ability to develop and maintain close working relationships with India senior leadership (e.g., Country President, CFO, Tax Director, General Counsel, Global Supply Chain VP, etc)
- Ability to lead in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures to detect and mitigate risk
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills
- Periodic domestic travel is required. Occasional international travel may be needed
