Corporate Communications Specialist - English-Speaking Africa
We're hiring a Corporate Communications Specialist to strengthen Schneider Electric's reputation, visibility, and stakeholder engagement across the English-speaking Africa cluster. The role drives integrated corporate communications, media relations, internal communications, executive visibility, and corporate citizenship storytelling that supports business growth, leadership positioning, and employee engagement.
As part of the Marketing Communications & Corporate Citizenship team, the Specialist ensures consistent, accurate, and compelling messaging across all touchpoints, internally and externally, aligned to the cluster's strategic priorities and the global Schneider Electric brand.
What will you do?
- Lead External Communications Strategy - Develop and execute the ESA cluster's external communications plan, including media relations, press releases, and thought leadership.
- Manage Media Relations - Build strong relationships with media outlets across South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and other ESA markets; coordinate interviews and press engagements.
- Drive Internal Communications - Deliver impactful internal messaging through intranet, newsletters, town halls, and employee engagement campaigns.
- Enhance Executive Visibility - Create and implement visibility plans for senior leaders, including speeches, LinkedIn content, and event scripts.
- Corporate Citizenship Storytelling - Communicate sustainability initiatives, community impact, and Schneider Electric Foundation programs through compelling content.
- Crisis Communications - Support risk mitigation and stakeholder messaging during sensitive situations; prepare holding statements and escalation protocols.
- Social & Digital Media Management - Develop content for corporate and executive social channels; monitor sentiment and ensure brand compliance.
- Event Communications - Support major events with scripts, press kits, and post-event coverage to amplify Schneider Electric's presence.
- Agency & Vendor Management - Oversee PR agencies and external partners to ensure quality outputs and measurable impact.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting - Track media coverage, analyze sentiment, and provide insights to optimize communication strategies.

Who will you report to?
- Reports to Director, Marketing Communications and Corporate Citizenship, English-Speaking Africa.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
- Minimum 8-15 years' experience in corporate communications, PR, journalism, or integrated communications roles.
- Proven experience developing compelling communications strategies and frameworks in B2B industries.
- Strong technology acumen with the ability to translate technical solutions into clear, accessible messaging.
- Demonstrated business acumen, with the ability to understand commercial goals and align communications to business outcomes.
- Must have experience working at a PR agency (essential requirement).
- Demonstrated track record of building media relationships in South Africa, Nigeria, and/or Kenya.
- Strong writing, storytelling, and messaging skills (speechwriting, scripts, long-form, short-form, social).
- Experience supporting senior leaders and managing sensitive corporate information.
- Experience managing PR agencies and external vendors.
- Strong understanding of media landscape, crisis communications, and reputation management.
