Your Mission
The role is part of the global Engineering To Order (ETO) Procurement organization. The Category Project Buyer is responsible for 2 important UK plants (Leeds & Scarborough) and will lead the customer project procurement (CPP) process in the plants, ensuring process robustness and effectiveness. This position is responsible and accountable for end-to-end Project Procurement performance, optimizing the procurement performance, driving simplification, standardization, transformation, and enhancement across the different CPP stages inc. stakeholders. The role has the overall responsibility for defining and delivering the CPP strategy; taking into account regional and country-specific stakeholder needs and the overall Global Project Procurement strategy. Driving improvements, efficiencies, and most importantly digital transformation.
The role has a direct impact on supporting and driving the increase in SE hit rate through procurement competitiveness at the feed phase and tender phase. During the execution phase margin improvement, on-time project execution, and risk management are key. Win the business and deliver profitably with maximum customer satisfaction.
The role drives the whole performance of the CPP, animating the large community of CPP buyers with the regional tendering leaders and aligning on global strategy, project management teams at plants, RCMs, procurement regional/cluster leaders, suppliers, and partners.
The role is responsible for upskilling of the CPBs across G ETO Procurement, capturing lessons learned, sharing best practices, and fostering synergies and optimizations.
The main responsibilities include ownership of plant procurement performance within the project and non-project procurement as required by the business, quality improvement, supply chain resiliency, and productivity.
This role has the key interface with the plant covering procurement activities and suppliers' management:
- Contribute to the Project business excellence by optimizing Project Procurement through the tailored, customized project procurement strategy.
- Ensure procurement involvement in the feed and tendering phase, working closely with RTDs to have the right visibility of the project funnel, including key accounts of customers
- Lead the synergies across the different CPBs, including elephant, large, and medium projects.
- Drive action plans to deliver CPP productivity at the different leavers of NEGO, CoS, QVE
- Animate the community of CPBs, and support their development, upskilling, exposure, and network.
- Develop the governance to track procurement performance across the projects including contribution in the feed phase, tendering phase, and execution phase
- Provide monthly updates on results, develop an action plan to achieve procurement ambitions in CPP
- Drive simplification, digitization, and standardization with the different stakeholders (RTLs, SC, RCMs, Plants, Effectiveness team, suppliers, supplier quality team etc).
- Ensure the robustness of the different tools (DATE, Early BOM, Growth inside hubs etc) to support CPP process performance and optimization
- Build, deploy and maintain operational reports and dashboards
- As SPOC of the Plant for Procurement, the role:
- Work on the Resilient Supply Chain approach to prepare the business for business growth (deploy and lead for the execution of the Business continuity plan (BCP) for all product ranges) according to the Global ETO Procurement strategies
- Drive and control product final cost optimization within localization, duplication, change of supplier, and technical modification projects
- Coordinate the successful project execution, including post-mortum and lesson-learned summary
- The successful candidate will develop and drive a project procurement strategy to support hub business growth, profitability, and cash flow improvement whilst maintaining strong cross-functional relationships, ensuring, and maintaining a customer-driven ethos, and continuously improving our total cost of acquisition Identifying the Procurement Scope of Work to be executed for the Customer as per the Customer project
- Involvement in Procurement activities associated with the effective purchasing of Project requirements by the CPB team to meet project schedules, specifications, and budgets.
- Develop and be responsible in conjunction with RTDs, Project Managers/Coordinators for the Project Procurement Plan and Execution Strategy for individual Projects.
- Identify procurement strategy to qualify suppliers for framework agreements to provide competitive pricing and services to support the Pre-bid winning rates and during project execution to improve project gross margin
- Identification and planning of the procurement strategies necessary for Project Management.
- Develop, implement, and monitor appropriate project cost governance.
- Expand the supplier risk management process and its robustness across the business.
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
- Maintain process integrity, adhere to internal policies and controls, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including incorporation of best practices using the Procurement Excellence System
- Define and execute customized procurement plan at the Tendering/Proposal and Execution stages. Secure supplier selection and qualification on a Total Cost of Ownership basis, to meet customer's needs, using the best skills and technology while minimizing cost and maximizing service levels
- Assess risks on the upstream and downstream Project Procurement, contribute to mitigation plan with suppliers, and execute the associated action plans
- During execution, maximize the leverage of the contract to protect Schneider Electric and generate additional savings, and ensure an efficient supply of materials & services for the projects
- Manage recurrent and non-recurrent, non-standard purchases with diverse scopes and technology, with proper processes and tools. Focus on specialization in non-standard purchase methodology and ensure that supplies are available as per the project
- Leverage strategic sourcing through category management and partnership. Perform supplier management by establishing and maintaining positive relationships with potential, current, and former suppliers.

About You:
- Master's/Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Procurement or relevant field
- Appx 7 years of related experience in projects and procurement, capable of defining strategy, animating teams, convincing, and influencing the stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of project procurement practices and cost structures; strong negotiation skills and contract law.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Strong technical background
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to convince & influence a large network of internal/external stakeholders.
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of the industry
- Strong analytic skills with the ability to interpret and translate information into actionable insights
- Business Acumen and ability to define the strategies
