Category Manager, Indirect Procurement (Contingent Labor & MSP)

Role Overview This Category Manager for Indirect Procurement will lead the strategic sourcing and management of the Contingent Labor category on a global scale. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of a global Managed Service Provider (MSP) model, specifically focusing on white-collar and professional services. The successful candidate will drive commercial value, mitigate risk, and ensure high-quality service delivery through cross-functional collaboration with HR, Legal, Finance, and IT.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & MSP Implementation

  • Execute a global category strategy for contingent labor, focusing on professional and white-collar workforces.
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of an MSP and Vendor Management System (VMS) across multiple regions.
  • Standardize procurement processes for temporary labor, including rate card development, supplier consolidation and scorecarding, and compliance tracking.

Sourcing & Commercial Management
  • Manage the full RFP process for contingent labor service providers and professional services firms.
  • Negotiate complex global contracts, focusing on pricing structures, SLAs, and favorable commercial terms.
  • Conduct regular spend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and demand management improvements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Act as the primary procurement point of contact for global business leaders regarding MSP expertise.
  • Partner closely with HR to align contingent labor strategies with broader talent acquisition goals-focusing on attracting, retaining, and recruiting the best talent for SE from the broad supply base.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Risk departments to ensure screening, co-employment, and other regional labor law compliance.

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
  • Monitor MSP performance against KPIs and operational metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with key suppliers to enhance candidate quality and reduce time-to-fill.
  • Facilitate business reviews and manage dispute resolution processes.

Required Qualifications

Experience
  • Professional Experience: 5-8 years of experience in indirect procurement, with a significant focus on human resources or professional services categories.
  • Category Expertise: Proven track record in managing contingent labor and implementing or managing an MSP/VMS environment.
  • Global Exposure: Experience operating within a global or matrixed organization, managing stakeholders across different time zones and cultures.

Technical Skills
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of labor market trends, rate benchmarking, and total cost of ownership (TCO) models.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale, multi-regional projects from inception to completion.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or Tableau) to drive category insights.

Soft Skills
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence executive-level stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally and build consensus among disparate business units.
  • Adaptability: High degree of flexibility to navigate evolving business requirements in a fast-paced environment.
