Business Development Representative - Specifiers

What will you do?

As the Business Development Representative for Specifiers, you will be responsible for building and nurturing strategic relationships with consulting engineers, design firms, and other specifiers in Ontario. Your mission is to influence project specifications and position Schneider Electric's Industrial Automation portfolio as the preferred choice in early design stages, while achieving defined growth targets for the region.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with targeted specifier firms and consulting engineers across Ontario.
  • Promote Schneider Electric standards and solutions in project specifications, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
  • Develop and execute engagement plans for key specifier accounts, including:
  • Technical presentations and lunch-and-learn sessions.
  • Training programs for engineering teams.
  • Joint planning to identify upcoming projects and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal sales teams and channel partners to convert specified opportunities into orders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on Schneider Electric's automation solutions (PLC, HMI, Drives, SCADA, AVEVA software, etc.).
  • Provide feedback from specifiers to influence Schneider Electric's strategic portfolio and marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Schneider Electric sales processes and approval requirements.
  • Maintain a territory plan focused on growing influence and market share through specifier engagement.
  • Achieve annual growth targets for revenue and market share within the specifier segment.


What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, technology, or related discipline.
  • Strong technical and commercial knowledge of industrial automation solutions (PLC, HMI, Drives, SCADA, software).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to engage with senior engineering professionals.
  • Experience in business development or sales with consulting engineers/specifiers (preferred).
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Ontario (up to 50%).
  • Functional French is an asset for Quebec collaboration.
