Building Automation Systems/Project Engineer for Columbus, OH area
Job Summary:
This position is typically held by an individual that has at least 4 years' experience in construction of low voltage electrical systems and preferably industry knowledge. This position is responsible for understanding project requirements such as specifications, standards, budgets, schedules, and safety.
Must be able to conduct project activities on-site related to the coordination, installation, and commissioning of building automation and security management systems, and perform work both independently or with other team members.
This individual should have experience with HVAC and security installations and be proficient in all types of building systems and application of our technology. Shall be capable of coordination of other project team activities on site, including coordination with other trades, commissioning agents, and customers.
This position is responsible for project coordination, safety, installation, checkout, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Ensures that daily activities on site for projects are completed and regular progress on projects are communicated to the project manager. Works under direct supervision of a Project Manager, and reports into a Program or Operations Manager.
Duties Include but not limited to:
- Gain customer exposure by attending meetings. Report back to the Project Engineer or Project Manager with action items and any additional deliverables that result from the meeting. Ensure that these items are tracked and resolved in a timely manner.
- Participate in system startup and commissioning using standard pre-functional checkout processes Prepares installation subcontractor bidding documents, descopes and negotiates subcontracts, and manages schedule, change orders, and billings.
- Review field sketches for change order exposure and provide feedback to Project Manager.
- Subcontractor management, scheduling, planning and tracking.
- Responsibility for safety and wellbeing of employees and subcontractors on projects, inclusive of creation of site safety plans, site audits, PPE provision, and toolbox talks and adherence to jobsite requirements.
- Able to modify and update design drawings and maintain red line documents.
- Ensure materials are being delivered or coordinated to the site or subcontractors for installation.
- Participate in field quality control or safety audits and review analysis and results.
- Validate hardware and project installations. Install, replace and re-commission devices, equipment, and software.
- Diagnose communication problems and install control devices and other components as well as troubleshoot software and hardware issues.
- Attends project sites regularly. Attends required site meetings.
- Coordinate with on-site contractors for the installation of equipment based on shop drawings. Coordinate and address any issues during installation phase
- Act as primary point of contact for subcontractors during installation phase.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to coordinate projects through the installation phase.
- Make sure that installation tracking sheets are updated regularly.
- QA/QC for project documentation.
Qualifications:
- 2 plus years in installation and start-up of HVAC, building automation, and or security systems. HVAC controls and or construction Industry or 6 plus years' experience as a Project engineer, or combined years of system application engineering or technician experience.
- Knowledge of basic BACnet/LON/MODBUS protocols.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to function in highly charged situations with customers, teammates, team members, peers, and contemporaries.
- Strong communication skills - verbal and written.
- Strong collaborative skills, internal and external.
- Working knowledge of Office 365, File Structure, VISIO.
