Role Overview
As an Application Test Expert within Schneider Electric's PME (Power Monitoring Expert) domain, you will serve as the highest level of technical escalation, providing expert support for complex and critical customer issues beyond Level 3 scope. You will lead deep-dive investigations, perform advanced troubleshooting, and deliver system-level diagnostics across integrated PME environments.
In this role, you will act as a key technical authority supporting global support teams, partners, and regional front-office engineers. You will collaborate closely with R&D, QA, product management, and field teams to analyze defects, reproduce issues, and drive effective and sustainable resolutions.
You will play a crucial role in improving product quality and reliability by identifying root causes and contributing to corrective and preventive actions. This position requires strong expertise in power monitoring systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to troubleshoot across software, hardware, communication networks, and integrated system components within the PME ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
Advanced Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues within Power Monitoring Expert (PME) environments, including servers, databases, communication networks, and connected devices.
- Analyze logs, traces, network traffic, system performance data to determine root causes.
- Recreate field issues in controlled lab environments to validate findings and support engineering investigations.
- Take ownership of critical escalations from customers, ensuring timely, high-quality resolution.
System-Level Analysis & Integration Support
- Perform deep analysis of PME architecture, including ION meters, gateways, communication drivers, servers, and integration layers.
- Validate system workflows to ensure seamless interoperability and optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot industry protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, ION, OPC, and related communication interfaces used within PME deployments.
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks, configuration issues, and system inefficiencies.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Act as a key link between field support teams and R&D, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
- Provide actionable field insights to influence product design, quality improvements, and roadmap decisions.
- Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, diagnostic procedures, and knowledge base content.
- Lead post-escalation reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor product support engineers and support the development of technical expertise across the support organization.
Qualifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience with Power Monitoring Expert (PME) systems, including commissioning, maintenance, or application design.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, particularly within PME environments (servers, databases, communications, and metering systems).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical findings to diverse stakeholders.
- 5+ years of experience working with power monitoring or energy management systems, ideally including field experience with PME or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, ION, OPC, and TCP/IP networking (experience with MQTT is an added advantage).
- Knowledge of Windows-based systems, including server environments, SQL databases, and network infrastructure relevant to PME deployments.
