What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Records Management Professional who has a proficient understanding of and experience in the Records Management field to join our team! The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team to develop records and document management solutions, serving as a steward to preserve institutional memory.

On any given day you may be called on to:
  • Manage institutional, organizational, programmatic or facility records, including submittal, receipt, transfer, storage, research, retrieval, usage, and disposition.
  • Assist in developing recorded information management system specifications by utilizing standard methodologies, assessing business needs, and clearly documenting requirements.
  • Collaborate with information technology professionals on the design and implementation of corporate and local information solutions for the long-term storage, preservation, and migration of digital records as well as process/product owner of information release and record repositories.
  • Appraise records, create file plans, and support development of organizational procedures and processes.
  • Create and revise retention schedules and records management programs including essential records, disaster recovery, contingency planning, and information lifecycle.
  • Set up systems of written, photographic, or video record cataloging, storage, and retrieval for organizations in accordance with established retention schedules.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agency National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and Department of Energy (DOE) to ensure compliance with federal regulations and maintain the Records Management Manual.
  • Perform research of corporate collection in response to legal holds, technical staff research, internal and external audit, and investigative requests from a variety of agencies, including NARA, Freedom of Information Acts (FOIA), and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
  • Design outreach and training initiatives for customers and design and deliver records management training to Sandia National Laboratories staff.

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range:

$74,700 - $144,400

Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:
  • Bachelor¿s degree in relevant field plus five (5) years¿ experience or master¿s degree plus one (1) year experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:
  • Knowledge of Sandia¿s records management policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements and risks affecting records management and administration.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with requirements and standard methodologies for electronic records management.
  • Experience as a software application product owner.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to understand business requirements.
  • Understanding of metadata standards, file formats, data migration, and digital preservation.
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, or interpreting information to promote the development of the institutional records management program.
  • Knowledge of archival and preservation methodologies.
  • Experience with and leading digitization activities, including tracking, quality control, robust cataloging and metrics.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills; strong oral, written, interpersonal, presentation and teaming skills.

About Our Team:

The Recorded Information Management Department is a dynamic, high-performing, and enthusiastic department working in high-profile records management areas, managing the life cycle of information and preserving Sandia's important records. The department develops policies and procedures to meet records management requirements for Sandia and provides products and services for cost-effective management of information by Sandians and contractors.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
