What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our outstanding team of Equipment Lifecycle Management Engineers. You will work in a results-oriented, lean six sigma culture in which your imagination, drive, and creativity will enable you to build significant value. On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Work with a variety of partners including ELM team engineers and technologists, production partners, facilities partners, maintenance staff and leadership to understand and help lead equipment and facilities projects in a range of buildings
- Work closely with our center customers to develop/understand utilities specifications for new or replacement laboratory or manufacturing equipment and lead projects to ensure the ability to install, facilitate and operate new tools
- Collect and define requirements, design and craft solutions, understand infrastructure needs, field new systems on the production floor, and upgrade/fix deployed systems
- To be successful in this position, you will need to effectively collaborate with internal customers, suppliers, and several levels of management
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$114,000 - $227,500
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
The ideal R&D S&E Electrical Engineer candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation)
- Ability to work independently and collaborate well in a multidisciplinary team of designers and test engineers
- Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling
Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:
- Experience in the facilities, equipment and infrastructure needs of critically important infrastructure is a plus
- Ability to work closely and successfully with customers with a wide range of needs and experience. This includes a strong customer-service ethic, and an ability to navigate bureaucratic processes and procedures
- Experience leading projects in a dynamic, hard-working environment.
- Project management experience along with leadership experience (in any venue).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Active DOE Q clearance
About Our Team:
The Asset and Operations Management Department, 7573, has responsibilities for three major areas. First, the department is responsible for managing and supporting equipment and facilities for three distinct mission areas: Neutron Generators, Power Sources, and Explosives Technologies. In this area, the department has an Equipment Lifecycle Management team that tracks, procures, characterizes, and retires equipment; and monitors and manages mission-specific facilities projects. Secondly, the Project Group manages installations of equipment, coordination with Corporate Facilities departments, and coordinates all Process Infrastructure Equipment. Finally, the Calibrations and Maintenance Team supports all production, development, and analytical equipment.

Position Information:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
