The Configuration & Information Management Excellence Department (5494) empowers innovation and ensure operational excellence through meticulous configuration and information management, employing a graded approach to support projects of varying rigor levels, and fostering a collaborative environment that drives the successful delivery of cutting-edge solutions. You will be the leader for the staff that executes the Configuration Management (CM) and Information Management (IMP) responsibilities. In this role you will:

- Steward the end to end information service delivery for Sandia projects.
- Guide the development and maintenance of strategic architectures for data driven processes
- Translate customer ¿ driven requirements into concrete CM/IMP solutions built from commercial off the shelf (COTS), open source, or internally developed tools (e.g., PLM/CM systems, SharePoint, Confluence).
- Champion the Digital Thread initiative, ensuring PLM integration, traceability, and data driven decision support across the product lifecycle.
- Serve as the senior liaison between program managers, technical leads, sponsors, and external partners on configuration control and information management matters.
On Any Given Day You May Be Asked To
- Recruit, select, onboard, and develop staff.
- Conduct performance assessments, provide coaching, mentoring, and recognize achievements.
- Create staffing plans that balance current project needs with future capability growth.
- Define and monitor deliverables, schedules, budgets, and staffing for work packages.
- Align activities with overall program plans and Sandia's mission area strategic goals.
- Guide the develop and refinement of CM and IMP processes (version control, change control, traceability, data package creation) in accordance with EIA 649, CMII, ISO, and Sandia policies.
- Guide configuration audits (administrative, physical, functional) and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide leadership for the PLM/CM toolset (e.g., Aras, PDMLink, Windchill), setting strategy and ensuring that expert support is available to all users.
- Provide leadership for the IMP team to manage collaboration sites (Confluence, SharePoint, Planner) and control access to classified/unclassified information.
- Build trust based relationships with internal and external customers; translate their requirements into CM/IM solutions.
- Liaise with sponsors, security officers, and external partners on rules, standards, and information exchange procedures.
- Identify process bottlenecks, propose efficiency gains, and lead implementation of improvements.
- Mentor staff on best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
Salary Range:
$138,600 - $235,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Minimum 8 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience.
- Proven expertise with PLM/CM tools (Aras, PDMLink, Windchill, or comparable).
- Strong knowledge of configuration management standards and information management practices.
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance or DOD equivalent.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to produce clear status reports, audit findings, and training material for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Certifications such as CMII, INCOSE CSEP, PMP, or CISSP
- Experience in hypersonics, nuclear deterrence, aerospace, or weapons ¿ product environments
- Familiarity with Digital Thread and PLM integration initiatives
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Adobe, SharePoint, Confluence, Planner
- Understanding of Sandia policies, DOE contract requirements, and federal information security regulations.
- Experience guiding data driven insights for resource allocation, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven track record of building trust based relationships with internal customers, DOE sponsors, and external partners.
- Skill in enforcing repeatable CM/IMP processes across multiple programs.
About Our Team:
Innovative Defense Technologies (05490) is dedicated to solving some of the nation's most challenging problems, taking ideas from concept to capability. Our Group advances this vision through Applied Autonomy and AI, Digital Thread Transformation, and Directed Energy Systems. We are seeking a hardworking, forward-thinking leader to serve as the manager of the Configuration & Information Management Excellence Department (05494).
Work in this department spans hardware development, lab testing, and fielding. To fulfill our mission for the Department of War (DoW), this department collaborates with multiple organizations across Sandia, particularly those focused on hypersonic strike weapons and target systems.
Success as the department manager requires effective collaboration with leaders across Sandia, managing critical quality information to matrixed R&D projects, and nurturing the professional growth of your staff. Your team will be a part of project execution with Activity-Level Work, ensuring compliance with Sandia¿s standards for safety, security, and quality.
The ideal candidate will prioritize fostering an inclusive environment that promotes connection, mutual trust, and individual courage, building a strong, cohesive team.
This position requires occasional travel to support sponsor engagement, project execution, and team development.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
