What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Machinist Trades person.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Review various fabricate to print requests for mechanical fabrication to ensure specifications and drawings are correct and identify machining companies that can produce the part
- Partner with procurement to issue purchase orders for manufacturing goods
- Discuss component design and manufacturability with customers
- Document work in a database
- Team with others to define process strategies
- Work safely and maintain security
- Communicate with staff, technologists, and management

- The selected applicant can be a remote worker located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location may be required
- As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly dues or agency fee
Qualifications We Require:
- Proficiency in generating multi-axis CNC machine tool paths with the capability of driving 2-5 axes
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM programming tools for CNC machines such as Mastercam, Solidworks, or other programs
- Knowledge of CNC Controllers
- Examples of your contribution in design for manufacturability solutions and design definition review
- Skill in teaming to successfully define machining processes and strategies, including collaboration on machining techniques and the design of special tooling and fixtures
- Competence in interpreting and fabricating to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance definitions
- Ability to schedule work and maintain a database of jobs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to effectively work with staff, technologists, and management
- Proficiency with G code
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
- Typical background includes a minimum of 5-8 years as a fully qualified Machinist Tradesperson and/or completion of a State-approved machinist apprenticeship program
- Active DOE Q clearance
- Familiarity with Haas Controllers
- Knowledge of Meso-Machining and EDM
- Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Oracle E-Business Suite software, and Service Now

About Our Team:
The Manufacturing Liaison team is part of the Supply Chain Management Center and supports Sandia and its customers with mechanical manufacturing needs. Manufacturing Liaison provides technical expertise and acts as liaison for mechanical and special process fabricate-to-print manufacturing performed by Sandia National Laboratory suppliers. The team works with external fabrication suppliers to deliver quality product on time and at the best possible price. The team has expertise in design for manufacturability, design definition for fabrication, fabrication project management, fabrication techniques and supplier capability. Manufacturing Liaison is responsible for and maintains a supplier quality management system to assist in source selection.

Security Clearance:
