Are you passionate about your work and want to join a dynamic team that helps solve some the most complicated issues facing our nation's security?

Science and Engineering Information Systems (SEIS), Group 9350, is looking for a dynamic innovative leader to manage the Product Data Management (PDM) Operations Enterprise Technical Solutions department, Org. 9357, which provides the following:
  • Research and Development (R&D) of new software solutions and enhancements of existing solutions in support of Nuclear Deterrence (ND) mission computing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) needs within the Product Realization Integrated Digital Enterprise (PRIDE) program.
  • Migration of the PDM system to a comprehensive PLM solution that enhances support for Digital Engineering (DE) initiatives.
  • Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of existing PRIDE applications.

The manager will be expected to:
  • Foster effective and long-lasting partnerships with federal and Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) representatives, ND leadership at Sandia and the NNSA, and peer Cybersecurity and IT leaders within Sandia.
  • Team with a highly collaborative group of managers to manage and execute software programs that benefit ND and Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP) areas at Sandia.
  • Lead the R&D and maintenance of software solutions and production operations to ensure deployed systems meet defined function, data, and security needs.
  • Partner with key mission and business area representatives to establish the strategic vision and direction of the department.
  • Team with other managers and business areas to develop fully integrated and extensible solutions to solve complex business problems.
  • Develop and execute staffing, development, and retention plans that attract, reward, and retain a highly competent workforce.

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite at least 3 days per week.

Salary Range:

$157,100 - $267,000

Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and eight (8) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
  • An active DOE Q Level clearance required to start and the ability to obtain and maintain Sigma 14/15 access

Qualifications We Desire:

The ideal Manager, R&D Science and Engineering candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:
  • Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • A graduate degree in science or engineering (MS or Ph.D.)
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills in developing trusting relationships with peers, staff, management, customers, and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the development and delivery of presentations, proposals, reports and documentation

Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:

Leadership:
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software systems and processes, with an emphasis on Product Data Management (PDM)
  • Experience leading digital transformation initiatives with an emphasis on leveraging multivendor cloud-based architectures.
  • Experience with the implementation and maintenance of large Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software systems.
  • Demonstrated successful program management and execution, including delivery of large and complex systems while meeting cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Experience guiding agile teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams, creating a positive and high-trust teaming environment
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively within and across organizations, with a track record of successful business development and building trusted relationships
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, from vision and architecture through development and support in a production environment for a significant user base
  • Experience working on national security programs that include classified information
  • Knowledge in Model Based Enterprise (MBE) and Model Based Design (MBD) processes and systems

About Our Team:

The Science and Engineering Information Systems (SEIS) Group, 9350, is a highly integrated team focused on delivering software and system solutions for the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) mission at Sandia and the NNSA National Security Enterprise (NSE).

Core capabilities in 9350 include software and data architectures, all aspects of software engineering, Agile software execution, configuration and asset management solutions, and emerging capabilities in augmented/virtual reality, 3D visualization, machine learning and data analytics. The organization's mission is to enable ND programs across the enterprise to deliver faster and more effectively. 9350 employs an agile product development and deployment process, and staff members are expected to drive process improvements through adoption of new techniques and industry best practices.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
