Job Summary

What's the job?

This position will assist the Sr Manager, Accounting & Reporting Financial Systems lead the Accounting & Reporting Financial Systems function ensuring comprehensive completion of all activities. Skilled at influencing others without having direct authority, this position is responsible for complex accounting systems master data, maintenance & control and leading projects that are aligned with achieving SSC & BU financial systems and business goals and objectives. This position plays a key support role in fulfilling requirements specified in customer Master Service Agreements (MSAs) & Statement of Work (SOW) and is an agent of change, leading or supporting projects that drive efficiencies through automation and streamlining in close collaboration with the Service Provider.

  • Participating in the identification of solutions to address challenges pertaining to financial accounting, controlling, reporting and maintenance requirements for financial systems and applications supporting customers and SSC
  • Performs the essential financial system functions ensuring consistent performance and control of the Region (ie: CertainTeed) financial system modules and all modules integrating with General Ledger.
  • Execute controlled transaction and master data procedures supporting internal controls and financial system protocols
  • Organize and facilitate key stakeholder meetings to drive the visualization, articulation, and decomposition of business challenges into actionable financial systems solutions.
  • Perform troubleshooting and resolve system failures causing data integrity issues affecting monthly financial closings and reporting
  • Lead / support cross-functional teams in the design, development and maintenance of the financial accounting and reporting systems to achieve outcomes necessitated by the Region businesses.
  • Manage stakeholders' expectations with regard to financial system support driving highly efficient financial system performance.
  • Ensure MSA and SOW are reviewed and maintained on a consistent basis as it pertains to supporting the financial systems and applications supporting the SSC.
  • Provide status communications on a monthly basis with the BUs, IT and SSC.
  • Support MSA and SOW commitments of timeliness, cost, quality, consistency, and reliability of information are delivered as agreed to in the MSA.
  • Be receptive and responsive to customer feedback from BUs.
  • Recommend training programs targeting specific areas of improvement in financial system transactions or procedures
  • Analyze and identify risks and implement controls to mitigate risks. Effectively communicate risks and controls to staff, Service Provider and Internal Customers. Assess compliance, and support remediation of compliance gaps working with the SSC and SG IT where necessary
  • Provides financial system close support to ensure an accurate, complete and timely monthly financial close for all Region Internal Customers in accordance with the closing schedule and Saint-Gobain reporting deadlines.
  • Responsible to maintain system process closing schedules and keep current.
  • Performs accurate and timely closure of all SAP FICO ERP solutions including management of scheduled and ad hoc system processed jobs; maintenance and execution of monthly allocations, internal order settlements, recurring entry execution jobs, BDC session oversight, and currency revaluation.
  • Execute and support the systematic compilation of monthly and annual financial reporting for SAP, Magnitude and Statutory reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • BS Business Administration/Accounting and/or Financial Information Systems, Advanced Degree preferred.
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, PMP, SAP / S4) a plus.
  • Deep experience with integrated ERP and financial reporting systems required. SAP and S4 Hana experience preferred.
  • Blackline Expertise in Reconciliation, Transaction Matching, Tasks
  • 5-10 years General Accounting and Financial Systems experience with emphasis on large integrated accounting and reporting system processes required.
  • Demonstrated system implementation and entity integration experience with financial data and modules
  • Familiarity with a complex international business preferred.
  • Proven results with structured problem solving and continuous improvement, applying Process Excellence/Six Sigma are highly valued.
  • Strong knowledge of and practical experience with internal controls. Solid technical accounting and financial reporting experience, particularly U.S. GAAP required. Experience with IFRS accounting principles a plus.
  • Experience in working with and co-leading outsourced service provider in providing accounting services to internal business customers is a plus.
  • Experience with integrated and external fixed asset solutions required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong knowledge of and demonstrated experience with tax accounting for fixed assets, Sales & Use tax, Federal & State income tax and related tax reporting requirements as it pertains to financial system configurations.
  • Effective cooperation with other Managers and the Finance Shared Services Director
  • Comfort providing virtual leadership, communication virtually with team and customers
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain business relationships outside of functional area
  • Demonstrated experience in business analysis, consulting, process engineering or solutions management or other related area
