Job Summary
Saint-Gobain Research North America is looking for a talented, and energetic research engineer to join our Abrasives team. Saint-Gobain is a world leader in developing innovative, high-performance solutions through our unparalleled expertise in materials solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Abrasives R&D projects in the area of grinding and surface finishing. The candidate will work with his/her manager, and various R&D and business teams to engage in or lead projects with the responsibility to apply the science and technology of abrasive processing of materials for new product and process development.
- Utilizes basic scientific or engineering principles and techniques to undertake specific tasks and projects with a defined scope.
- Carries small to medium projects or studies through to successful completion. Guidance on project objectives and technical approach are provided but autonomous execution is expected.
- Supports senior engineers and scientists in the R&D team with their projects.
- Manages and documents projects and tasks effectively with supervision.
- Take a leading role in aspects of lab management: safety, equipment maintenance, 5S, lab audit preparation and action follow-up, lab postings, regular equipment checks, etc.
- Demonstrates an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.
- Conducts hands-on experimental work.
- Design and execute experiments for product and application development.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, materials engineering, or other related discipline
- Previous experience focused on the science and application of machining and/or grinding preferred.
