Job Summary

What's the job?

The Maintenance Manager position is responsible for the entire Maintenance department within the facility including oversight of preventative maintenance programs, MRO Storeroom oversight, and development of autonomous maintenance initiatives on the production floor .This position requires strong leadership skills and an ability to interact with all departmental functions within the plant, including but not limited to, safety training, repair of equipment, equipment process improvements, predictive maintenance planning, and preventative maintenance of existing machines. The incumbent must exercise discretion when making decisions and use independent judgment within policy and procedure guidelines. This position requires use of World Class Manufacturing analytical tools to assist in problem resolution relative to production needs as well as a thorough understanding of plant processes. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

  • Develop and implement PM and AM programs on all plant equipment. Ensure the development of work Instructions explaining the needed maintenance to be done on the machine. Audit, track progress, and post KPI measures and results.
  • Prepare and submit internal and external reports according to local and department requirements including capital appropriations, maintenance spending, and capital spending reports.
  • Design, develop, initiate, and present innovative engineering ideas for viable new equipment designs and mechanisms for production machinery to promote more efficient and profitable processes.
  • Support the manufacturing activities of all products through maintenance of machines, spare parts, buildings, grounds, and repair activities to meet customer schedule commitments within quality and cost objectives.
  • Select, train, develop, evaluate, and motivate an effective workforce and continuously works to upgrade their skill level. In concert with Human Resources, develops and implements on-going skills assessment and training efforts, both on and off the job, to constantly upgrade the skill level of supervised employees.
  • Maintain a functional and efficient MRO Storeroom process to insure timely repairs and necessary part availability
  • Maintain continuous dialogue and communication with the Operations Manager and Plant Manager, as needed, to keep him/her apprised of the status of safety, schedules, problems, and opportunities available to maximize efficient operations and to enhance overall company manufacturing operations. Display a personal and professional commitment to the continuous improvement process.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • BS in Engineering or Operations Management preferred.
  • 10 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with engineering systems and best manufacturing practices and a proven track record of relevant successes in improving the cost of manufacturing and working through others.
  • Understands and is familiar with Preventative Maintenance systems and the use of relevant Reliability tools to assure efficient operations of equipment.
