What's the job?

The EHS Manager will manage all aspects of health, safety and environmental issues for the CertainTeed Jonesburg facility while driving continuous improvement activities through the use of WCM. The EHS manager is responsible for the development of a systematic and organized approach to ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations and company standards to include property risk. The EHS Manager will be an integral member of the leadership team to help drive the success of the business through the development of a safety-oriented culture with the goal of zero work related injuries or illnesses. This position will work closely with other department leaders to develop and sustain a strong EHS culture across the facility.

  • Drives a safety-oriented culture, participates actively in a team oriented atmosphere, in implementing safety programs and training. Creates a proactive strategy to prevent safety incidents, raise safety awareness, increase engagement, lower incident rates and drive change.
  • Conducts compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support EHS management system.
  • Respond to emergency situations during standard work hours and after hours for the purpose of remediating safety concern. Assists in emergency response and provides first aid treatment, as necessary.
  • Conducts detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis to determine corrective actions, as well as, make recommendations and implement solutions.
  • Maintains positive and proactive relations with leadership team and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for the Management and driving compliance with all Federal, State and Local environmental standards Manages annual EHS Plan with periodic review and regulations at assigned facility.
  • Manage the Hearing Conservation Program to include the annual Hearing exams for affected employees.
  • Review Hearing Exams to check to ensure there are no Recordable Threshold Shifts
  • Liaison with corporate EHS management

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Engineering or Environmental Sciences.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in manufacturing environment preferred

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards for general industry, EPA regulations, and ISO systems associated with EHS.
  • Prior experience involving EHS & Sustainability improvements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
  • Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office including Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
