Job Summary

What's the job?

This position will serve as individual contributor on the Procurement team while providing strategic leadership for global collaboration. Develop and implement procurement plans and strategies to support forecasted needs for materials using purchasing E-tools to source, bid on and purchase commodities related to specialties siding product.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate ideas and strategies to develop short- and long-term category strategies, translate ideas and strategies into purchasing actions and implement strategies based on understanding of industrial and business strategies.

  • Analyze and improve process and supply chain procedures to increase operational efficiency and drive cost saving initiatives across our supply and production chains.
  • Analyze data points (such as supplier scorecards, history, market trends, inventory requirements, etc.) to implement purchasing strategies and mitigate supply chain related risks to businesses.
  • Implement strategies for negotiating commodity purchasing agreements based on in-depth knowledge and understanding of business requirements and knowledge of domestic and international commodities market to secure optimum pricing and terms.
  • Analyze global demand, supply and forecast for assigned raw materials and monitor on-going global trends and their impact on availability of assigned commodities.
  • Prepare technical reports on raw materials needs and strategies based on in-depth understanding of industry best practices and technologies.
  • Perform market analysis of historical and potential future raw material purchases.
  • Work on the continuous improvement of category strategies to satisfy business volume, quality and total cost of ownership requirements.
  • Perform category market analysis for raw material origination, application and cost structure and purchase commodities in accordance with approved buying programs and procurement policies in place and using technical judgment.
  • Identify potential cost saving opportunities through supplier management and negotiations for assigned raw material categories.
  • Monitor supplier performance, suggest improvements and optimize supply chain by working with plants, conduct supplier audits and identify new raw materials to substitute for existing materials.
  • Conduct Supplier Quality Audits with Quality and R&D stakeholders to ensure all supply chain and quality requirements are met.
  • Maintain and monitor supplier scorecards based on quality and delivery performance.
  • Manage in-bound logistics for assigned raw material categories.
  • Understand existing supply chain issues and work with suppliers to maintain smooth functioning of the business.
  • Perform market research on identifying new sources, possible low-cost sources, and new raw materials that can replace existing or phasing away raw materials.
  • Create and monitor Category Dashboard that includes SKUs, price history, contract status, key clauses, supply chain details, supplier sites and details.
  • Develop and implement raw material category objectives using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and manage objectives to ensure KPIs are met.
  • Conduct supplier meetings to maintain supplier relationships to ensure collaborative working throughout the supply chain and risk mitigation.
  • Analyze category dashboard to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Supply Chain Management, Industrial and Systems Engineering and Management or a related field.
  • Master Degree (MBA, Supply Chain, Economics, Chemistry, Engineering) a plus.
  • Requires 6-10 years of relevant category management experience.
