About the team + role
The Developer Experience (DevX) team’s mission is to boost developer productivity across the full software development lifecycle — from coding, to builds and testing, to safe production deployments.
As a Staff Software Developer, you’ll be a key technical leader on the team and set technical direction, design scalable systems, and mentor other engineers while shaping the future of Robinhood’s developer infrastructure! This is a high-impact role where you’ll be instrumental in delivering fast, safe, and cost-efficient development tooling across the company.
The role is located in the office location(s) listed on this job description which will align with our in-office working environment. Please connect with your recruiter for more information regarding our in-office philosophy and expectations.
What you’ll do
- Set the roadmap and lead architecture for our deployment platform, improving reliability, safety, and developer velocity
- Build scalable deployment capabilities on Kubernetes using ArgoCD, Argo Workflows, and Argo Rollouts, advancing GitOps-based workflows
- Expand multi-region support and strengthen progressive delivery (canary, blue/green)
- Partner with product engineering, other infrastructure teams, and security to deliver a self-serve platform with strong operational standards
- As a Staff Developer, you will take ownership of the deployment platform's reliability, which includes joining the team’s support rotation (on-call). You will lead efforts to scale and stabilize these systems, ensuring a clear path to reducing operational overhead for the entire team.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, architecture guidance, and hands-on technical leadership
What you bring
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with depth in platform engineering, infrastructure, and/or developer productivity
- Proven technical leadership: setting direction, driving architecture, and delivering complex systems end-to-end
- Strong programming skills in Go and/or Python (Go preferred)
- Hands-on experience building and operating Kubernetes-based platforms in production, including multi-cluster and/or multi-region setups
- Experience with GitOps and modern CD systems (e.g. ArgoCD, Flux, Spinnaker, Octopus Deploy)
- Experience with progressive delivery and safe rollout patterns (canary, blue/green, automated rollbacks), plus the tooling to support them
- Strong operational mindset: reliability, observability, incident response, and scaling production systems
- Collaborative approach and strong communication skills across product engineering, infrastructure, and security stakeholders
- Nice to have: familiarity with CI/build tooling (e.g., Bazel) and GitHub workflows (not required)
