Senior QA Engineer - Unpublished R&D Product

As a Senior QA Engineer, you’ll help shape the quality strategy and execution for a feature team on a new and Unpublished R&D title. You will embed with developers, designers, and producers to champion quality throughout the development lifecycle—from early planning to hands-on testing to metrics-driven validation. Your work will ensure our tools, systems, and player experiences are both reliable and delightful.

This role is based in Sydney, Australia. You’ll report to an Manager, Software Engineering supporting the R&D Game Team. Internal Job Title: QA Engineer II.

  • Contribute to a quality-first mindset across the development team, advocating for scalable testing and clear quality goals.
  • Design, implement, and execute test plans, charters, and test cases across game features, tools, and backend systems.
  • Help define quality metrics and use data to inform risk management, release readiness, and product confidence.
  • Identify opportunities to improve pipelines, workflows, and test coverage.
  • Partner with engineers to investigate issues and triage defects.
  • Coordinate testing with offsite or vendor QA teams and provide structured feedback.
  • Serve as the voice of the player by representing end-user expectations and ensuring experiential integrity.

Required Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of experience in software or game QA roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in test planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering, design, and production functions.
  • Ability to discuss and review technical implementation details with engineers.
  • Experience coordinating with distributed testing resources and evaluating test effectiveness.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with QA tooling such as Jira, TestRail, or custom reporting dashboards.
  • Experience testing complex services or engine systems, ideally in games or interactive applications.
  • Understanding of version control workflows (e.g., Git, Perforce).
  • Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB Foundation, BBST, Agile Testing).
  • Prior experience working in Unreal Engine or with telemetry/performance test tools.
  • Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent
