Overview

The Buyer is responsible for planning branch inventory and coordinating cost-effective replenishment within a region. This includes managing system forecasts through analysis and communication with sales and operations, monitoring vendor ETAs, and maintaining accurate PO pricing while resolving discrepancies. The role also involves controlling the ABCD stocking strategy and utilizing reports to manage open orders, optimize buy/transfer decisions, and assess forecast accuracy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Buyer is responsible for actioning the driven forecast, which requires the decision-making authority to collaborate with sales and operations to adjust forecasts based on anticipated changes in demand.
  • Make buy and transfer decisions based on specific cost, economic, and net working capital goals.
  • Manage branch-level inventory to maintain pre-determined days on hand.
  • Create, track, and manage purchase orders (POs) using the company ERP system.
  • Place internal transfer order requests.
  • Monitor and maintain all open POs and transfers. Follow through to completion and communicate status with stakeholders.
  • Advise business leaders, using analysis of financial forecasting to influence and guide organizational purchasing decisions.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with internal teams to prevent shortages or delays.
  • Assist the purchasing manager with inventory and pricing discrepancies.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Required Experience

2-4 years of accounting and/or purchasing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Comfortable speaking with and presenting to individuals and small groups
  • Proficient Computer Skills: Microsoft, Google Suite, and ERP system operation
  • Strong negotiation, numerical, and communication skills.

Formal Education, Qualifications or Training

  • Associates Degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent job experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Compensation

Range $58,500 - $76,000 / annually

While starting pay falls within the given range, it can vary based on factors like geographic location, skills, education, and experience. Total earnings may also be affected by overtime, incentives, commissions, performance, and route assignment (where applicable).
