We're searching for a Intercompany & Consolidation Senior Accountant - to join our Rakuten Rewards team in our Toronto, Ontario office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, post, analyze, and document all intercompany entries and reconciliations, ensuring thorough, organized documentation and adequate support.
- Manage intercompany and intracompany invoicing and settlement process, including coordination with Account Payable and other stakeholder to properly settle intercompany balances.
- Investigate, identify, and resolve intercompany and consolidation discrepancies, mismatches, and out-of-balances in a timely manner, collaborating with finance teams in various subsidiaries, and preparing and posting intercompany elimination entries.
- Coordinate with intercompany partners to ensure accurate classification and accounting treatment of intercompany activity in accordance with company policy and accounting standards.
- Maintain and adherence to established intercompany policies and transfer pricing agreements.
- Coordinate with subsidiary accountants to ensure timely and complete submission of intercompany transaction data; contribute to the development and continuous improvement of intercompany policies and procedures.
- Run consolidation processes within the system and troubleshoot basic system issues, and prepare supporting schedules and analyses for consolidated financial statement
- Assist the Consolidation Manager in the overall preparation of consolidated financial statements and with parent company reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger and statutory financial ledgers, including ensuring proper and timely entering and recording of transactions in accordance with the Company's accounting policies.
- Assist with both internal and external tax and audit request and other regulatory reporting requirements related to transfer pricing and intercompany transactions.
- Support automation initiatives related to intercompany and consolidation accounting tasks.
- Provide accounting support to the Management on special projects as required or assigned.
- Assist with ad-hoc or special projects as assigned

Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred but not required.
- 5 or more years of accounting experience in corporate accounting department with focus on intercompany and consolidation transactions.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting, and international entities, and cross-border accounting workflow is highly desirable.
- Experience with intercompany transactions and consolidation, as well as month-end close process utilizing a large ERP system; Oracle Cloud is preferred.
- Familiarity with foreign exchange impact on intercompany transactions a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly strong Excel skills including the ability to create pivot tables and perform VLOOKUPs.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues in accounting and business partners across the entity to understand the business and apply knowledge to reporting and financial statements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated professional aptitude and ability to effectively convey skills and knowledge to non-technical internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adept at handling change as well as multiple concurrent projects.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Strong understanding of intercompany/consolidation accounting principles and processes.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required, and the ability to research issues, evaluate problems and recommend viable solutions.

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the Compensation (base salary + discretionary bonus) for this role to be within the range shown below. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location.
