Overview
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Tax Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. This role ensures accurate and timely tax filings, monitors changes in tax laws, and proactively identifies opportunities to minimize tax exposure while maintaining full compliance. The Tax Manager works closely with internal finance teams (domestic and international), external advisors, and auditors to support strategic decision‑making and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local income, sales/use, and other applicable tax returns
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, deadlines, and reporting requirements
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess the impact on the organization; recommend and implement appropriate actions
- Lead tax planning initiatives to optimize tax positions and support business objectives
- Coordinate and manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities
- Provide tax guidance and support to internal departments on transactions, initiatives, and policy changes
- Manage tax audits and inquiries, including documentation and resolution efforts
- Maintain internal controls and documentation related to tax processes
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, systems, and efficiencies
- Ensure timely payments
- Manage the Avalara relationship related to sales tax management
- Support special projects and ad hoc tax research as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 5 plus years of progressive tax experience, including corporate tax compliance and planning
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Experience managing audits and working with external advisors
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly to non‑technical stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
