Overview
The Quality Engineer ensures our products, manufacturing processes, and systems consistently meet high-quality standards and meet customer expectations. Quality Engineer plays a critical role in preventing defects rather than just finding them, from product conception to final delivery. The ideal candidate will utilize data-driven approaches (SPC, FMEA, DOE) to analyze failures, lead root cause investigations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across production and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality support using advanced quality and statistical techniques, such as D/P FMEA’s, first article analysis, capability studies, design of experiments, correlation studies, etc.
- Lead quality process improvement efforts and support engineering activities, including inspection plan development and failure analysis on existing product lines
- Lead efforts to improve supplier quality through audits and part-certification activities
- Provide training to plant personnel, and other engineers, in quality disciplines
- Analyze quality data and issue reports prioritizing improvement opportunities
- Initiate root cause analysis and corrective action efforts when plant quality objectives are not met
- Drive adequacy and conformance of processes and procedures through the internal audit process and the corrective action process
- Lead and facilitate corrective action and MRB process in the plant
Complete assigned projects related to the continual improvement of the Azusa Manufacturing Plant Quality Management System. Requires some traveling
Qualifications
- BS degree in engineering or other technical discipline with 3+ years of experience
- Knowledge of world class manufacturing principles
- Excellent problem-solving skills and team orientation.
- Ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and implement changes
- Experience working with plastic injection molded components
- Experience working with products produced via high volume automated assembly
- Working knowledge of SPC, Pareto analysis, Gage R&R, Control Plans, and FMEA
- Experience with inspection methods, data analysis and design review
- Basic knowledge of GDT and ability to read prints
- Experience running high impact quality improvement projects
- Proven track record with significant and measurable results
- Software proficiency including MS Office applications and basic Minitab
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MBA or MS degree in related field
- Experience with implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM)
- Experience in supplier management
- ASQ certification in one or more areas (CQE, CSSGB, CQA, CRE, etc.).
- Bilingual English/Spanish
