Plant Manager
Overview
The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of the injection molding operation at the Southpoint Molding Plant including safety, quality, delivery, inventory, personnel staffing requirements, molds and machines. The person in this position will be a strong driver for a safe and quality environment, customer focus, continuous improvement, collaboration and 5S.
In addition to his Plant Manager role, this position will be the Molding Excellence Program Manager, ensuring a successful outcome for this top Rain Bird strategic initiative.
Responsibilities
PLANT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership to continuously improve a culture of safety and quality.
- P&L responsibility for the Southpoint Molding Plant.
- Execute corporate and strategic plan goals including safety improvement, quality improvement, customer service level achievement, inventory turns, and supply-chain flexibility.
- Ensure mold insourcing efforts are successfully implemented, including the implementation of new presses.
- Coordinate resources to support New Product Development and drive the 5S deployment.
- Foster creativity and innovation within the molding team.
- Act as change agent to improve bottom line performance through Lean / 6-Sigma manufacturing techniques including, but not limited to: Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI), adherence to plan, Standard Work, 5S, SMED, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, DOE, Kaizen, etc.

MOLDING EXCELLENCE PROGRAM MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish the strategy and lead the execution for a broad list of molding-related activities that will ensure Rain Bird is a world-class molder
- Serve as a key influencer who partners with Molding Excellence champions to deliver critical project milestones across Tucson, El Lago, and Nogales molding operations
- Drive high-impact execution strategies to make Injection Molding Excellence a Rain Bird core competency
- Create an environment of innovation and high-performance execution for the Molding Excellence Initiative
- Ensures molding excellence progress becomes a systematic way to operate
- Develop ideas to keep momentum and show progress despite peak season and busy schedules
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, or business discipline.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and technical skills.
- At least 10 years of experience in operations management
- History of increasing responsibilities with proven track record of achieving excellent results.
- Previous P&L or budget responsibility.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience as Plant Manager or higher role
- Experience with plastic injection molding operations and scientific molding
- Knowledge of injection molding tools
- Master Molder
- Graduate degree in business or technical discipline
- Fully bilingual – English and Spanish
