International Sales Manager

Overview

The International Sales Manager – Iberia & Italy will report directly to Rain Bird Europe's General Manager and will be responsible for creating and driving sales growth and product strategies for our landscape, Agriculture and Consumer Products segments across Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Based in Madrid, the successful candidate will think and plan strategically and will be a key sales leader in the development and execution of Rain Bird Europe's overall operating plan. He/she must be collaborative, driven, high-energy, and have a demonstrated track record of success in both sales and business management across European markets. This position will be measured on market top-line sales growth and market share growth across the assigned region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the sales and market share growth strategy across Spain, Portugal, and Italy — developing and implementing a regional commercial plan fully aligned with Rain Bird Europe's international business objectives — while leading and developing a team of sales managers, specification professionals, and individual contributors to build a high-performing field team with a robust succession pipeline
  • Manage and strengthen the distributor network across the region — including corporate and key accounts that may extend beyond the assigned territory — leading commercial negotiations, pricing discussions, contract terms, and annual business planning, while building long-term relationships with distributors, customers, consultants, and other strategic stakeholders to position Rain Bird as the preferred partner across the value chain.
  • Drive revenue growth through direct sales, distributors, partners, and key accounts, while identifying, evaluating, and pursuing new business opportunities across target sectors and customer segments in Iberia and Italy.
  • Monitor customer trends, market analysis, competitor activity, pricing dynamics, and regulatory developments, and collaborate with the General Manager to design the long-term commercial strategy for the assigned region.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, product management, customer service, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure strong and consistent market execution across the region.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, budgets, pipeline updates, and performance reports for leadership, ensuring full visibility and accountability across Iberia and Italy.
  • Ensure high standards of customer satisfaction and actively support the resolution of commercial or operational issues.
  • Contribute to regional business planning and recommend actions to improve profitability, brand presence, and channel performance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of international sales/business development experience, preferably in irrigation, landscaping, or a related industry.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field.
  • Business-level proficiency in English, with previous experience reporting and presenting in that language.
  • Native or full professional proficiency in Spanish, with strong working knowledge of Portuguese and/or Italian considered a strong asset.
  • Strong career progression and supervisory experience managing geographically dispersed teams across multiple markets.
  • Ability to achieve results.
  • Strong understanding of product promotion and pricing channel management.
  • A strong strategic perspective and an analytical approach to decision making.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and influencing skills with a proven ability to develop talent and build succession pipelines.
  • Willingness to travel for business >50%.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in general management, marketing, distribution, and P&L accountability.
  • An advanced degree, MBA or similar.
  • International market experience across Southern Europe.
