The Retirement Strategies FAC P&A team is responsible for all forecasting, driver analysis, GAAP and STAT financial analysis as well as the production of management reporting materials and analytics. We provide insight into the business' financial performance and support business decision making, at the Business Unit as well as Corporate level. Our team develops expertise in FP&A, data analytics, financial statement analysis, management reporting and learn business strategy, and product and channel fundamentals of the Retirement Strategies business lines.

The Manager, Retirement Strategies Planning & Analysis will be focused on the Individual Retirement Strategies Management Reporting. The open role will join a team of high caliber associates and will report to and partner closely with the Director on the team. This role supports senior management and other business partners in measuring and evaluating the financial performance of the business, data analytics, analysis of key business drivers, assessing the potential impact of opportunities and risks, management reporting of financial results, evaluating strategic initiatives, and have a role in the forecasting of the income statement and balance sheet under various scenarios.

The candidate should be able to clearly and concisely communicate with finance and business colleagues at all levels. The candidate should be committed to personal growth, eager to learn, and strive to make continuous improvements. The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis in our Newark, NJ. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you'll do:

  • Lead amongst a team of finance professionals with a strong focus on talent development
  • Developing profitability, source of earnings analysis by products and distribution channels
  • Creating and presenting actual and forecasted financial results to business unit and Corporate leaders, highlighting pertinent trends and key business drivers
  • Understanding key business drivers and their impact to financial results
  • Working with business and finance leaders to identify financial trends and profitable growth opportunities
  • Develop enhancements and efficiencies to key processes and workflows and be a key partner with enterprise transformation initiatives
  • Support assessment of strategic initiatives and other ad-hoc projects
  • Forecasting multi-year financial results on a GAAP and statutory basis and producing insightful analytics
  • Partner with internal business and corporate areas including but not limited to actuarial, pricing, sales, Corporate Reporting, GAAP & statutory reporting and Capital Management

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, financial reporting, expense management, or related experience
  • Advanced excel knowledge with proven ability to manipulate large data sets and create financial models
  • Proven ability to analyze data and the underlying drivers of financial results
  • Ability to work across teams and collaborate with others to drive execution
  • Ability to identify opportunities to better leverage existing and emerging technologies to complete tasks more efficiently and effectively
  • Leadership and managerial skills
  • Agile and organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with desire and ability to present to senior management while maintaining a strong executive presence
  • Ability to understand business fundamentals and business strategy

It would be a plus if you had:

  • GAAP reporting and analysis experience in the insurance industry
  • Advanced degree and/or relevant certification (MBA, CPA, or CFA is a plus)
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Coding skills (e.g. Python, R, Excel, SQL, VBA)

What we offer you:

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $114,500.00 to $188,900.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
