Position Overview

PNC Mezzanine (www.pncmezzanine.com), a private equity affiliate of PNC Financial Services Group, is seeking an Analyst to join our team. Since our inception in 1989, we have actively invested over $2B of debt and equity capital in over 100 middle-market platform companies across a wide range of industries. Our current portfolio of nearly 30 companies, includes minority and majority position in industry leading middle-market businesses across North America.

The Analyst will be based in Pittsburgh, PA and will work closely with the firm's other investment professionals. Primary responsibilities include:
• Support senior investment professionals in all aspects of actively managing and monitoring a private equity investment portfolio
Assist in the development, execution, and monitoring of company-level value-creation initiatives
• Attend and/or participate in monthly and/or quarterly portfolio Board meetings, including interacting directly with management teams and other private equity deal partners
• Perform due diligence procedures, including industry and company research across various industry sectors and geographies to support investment decisions
• Assist with the preparation of internal and external investment materials and analysis.
• Prepare in-depth financial models and analyses, including historical and projected financial results, evaluation of assumptions and risk factors.

Importantly, we expect an Analyst's role to expand over time as they demonstrate an ability to take on additional responsibility. The successful candidate will have the following preferred qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics or Accounting
• Minimum of one to two years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling
• Skill in analyzing investment opportunities including a thorough evaluation of all aspects of a company's business plan.
• Ability to communicate analytical findings in a clear and concise written manner, as well as oral presentations and informal discussions.
• Ability to interact effectively with senior managers of financial sponsors and target companies.

Job Description

  • Provides financial and regulatory reporting and analyses to maintain adequate controls over the financial and regulatory reporting processes. Responsible for running complex business performance, risk and operational analytics. May include the development of analytical methods/models to assess market, credit and/or operational risk of new and existing financial products.
  • Leverages business / product expertise to rigorously analyze large datasets, improve risk adjusted returns, deliver profitable growth, and communicate conclusions. Synthesizes analytical results and develops, recommends, and implements business strategies that improve lending decisions, assist in managing risk, increase revenues, reduce exposure to losses, meet business goals, and improve performance. Establishes baselines for strategies and tracks actual performance to expectations.
  • Applies predictive models, third party data, and other tools to develop and execute appropriate segmentation and targeting for acquisition and portfolio strategies to provide insight into portfolio risk. Manages engagements with internal and external information suppliers ensuring solution is fit for purpose while maintaining appropriate governance and oversight.
  • Works with business, credit, data, and model development partners to design, develop, and monitor test designs and analytical reporting to track and enhance strategies. Designs / enhances standard reporting suites for regular product / portfolio reviews.
  • Collaborates with the line of business, Finance, and Risk partners to assess and establish credit risk appetite and to understand its implications, as well as to establish policies and procedures governing the identification, monitoring, and management of risk appetite.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $72,000.00 - $105,000.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education.
