ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Sustaining Engineer is a key cross-functional role focused on optimizing product engineering and manufacturing through sustaining actions. This involves conducting feasibility studies on value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) opportunities, with a strong emphasis on analyzing and engineering product values. The primary objectives are to enhance value propositions, reduce costs, and improve performance.

An ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in manufacturing and product engineering development, enabling them to identify and implement changes that add value to products or processes. A strong understanding of cross-functional cooperation and collaboration, both internally and externally, is essential to achieve objectives and ensure effective sustaining activities.

The Senior Sustaining Engineer provides in-depth technical support to internal teams and external contract manufacturers (CMs). This support drives cost savings and improves overall productivity through the careful implementation of engineering changes and thorough verification processes, ultimately ensuring that these changes enhance efficiency while reducing costs for both products and processes.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Participate and work with a cross-functional team, ensuring all sustaining-oriented changes across contract manufacturers, Tier 1, may extend to Tier 2, consistently exceeding performance, quality, and efficiency goals. 

  • Participate in in-depth technical discussions regarding part fabrication, manufacturing processes, material selection, and potential issues. Evaluate and select suitable manufacturing processes to meet desired cosmetic and functional specifications, taking into account tolerances, surface finishes, and production methodologies.

  • Work with CMs to provide engineering support in problem solving and root cause analysis that are tooling-related, then understand and help refine technical requirements for products and processes for future and on-going productions

  • Represent Peloton manufacturing on cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between engineering requirements and manufacturing feasibility.

  • Identifies and proposes innovative applications for existing Peloton materials, products, and processes. Identifies cost reduction opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives related to daily operations, engineering, and processing with monitoring the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.

  • Support test plans for new product development and sustaining engineering activities and ensure safety protocols are followed and where necessary new safety processes are implemented

  • Work multi-functionally with other departments and prioritize work queues to provide technical support to technicians for various testing activities

YOU BRING TO PELOTON

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent to demonstrate understanding of engineering principles is required.

  • 5+ years of engineering and manufacturing experience from the field is required (From NPI to MP)

  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, including tolerances and GD&T considerations

  • Good understanding of engineering development and change management

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on achieving results

Assuring sustaining engineering modification outcomes, fulfilling the anticipation of cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and process optimization

  • Able to work cross-functionally with internal and external teams to achieve set objectives is  highly regarded 

  • Maintains parts quality from sustaining activities through expertise in process development and critical thinking

  • Demonstrate ability to resolve tooling issues to ensure mass production while aligning sustaining activities

  • Proven ability to analyze process costs and propose alternative, cost-effective methods

  • Capability in software like SolidWorks and ability to respond quickly

    • Fluency in English is a plus
