Job Description
NOTE: Due to government environments this team supports, the role requires a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Job SummaryAs a Principal DevOps Engineer on the Cortex team, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure and automation for our industry-leading SecOps platform. You will work closely with engineering teams to enable fast, reliable software delivery and ensure the seamless scalability and performance of our large-scale cloud platform. This role requires a passion for automation, cloud infrastructure, and observability to help evolve our systems through best practices in IaC, CI/CD, and containerization.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitect, deploy, and manage scalable and reliable cloud-native solutions in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and automate configuration management with tools like Ansible.Build, maintain, and optimize robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI to enable rapid and reliable software delivery.Deploy, manage, and secure containerized workloads using Kubernetes (GKE) and Docker, ensuring high availability and resilience.Implement and manage comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.Proactively collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps practices, troubleshoot complex production issues, and improve operational efficiency.Ensure security best practices are integrated into infrastructure, networking, and application deployment processes.Participate in an on-call rotation to maintain platform reliability and provide timely resolution for production incidents.
Qualifications (Additional Job Description)
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, or Master's degree with 8 years of experience, or PhD with 5 years of experience in a relevant field.Extensive experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.Strong expertise in architecting and managing solutions in a major cloud provider (GCP preferred, AWS acceptable).Deep knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform and Ansible.Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language such as Python, Go, or Bash.Proven experience managing large-scale Kubernetes environments (GKE, EKS) and containerized workloads.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.Solid understanding of cloud networking principles, IAM, firewalls, and security best practices.Experience troubleshooting complex production issues in high-scale, distributed systems.

Compensation Disclosure
The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed below. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
$147,000.00 - $237,500.00/yr
