Associate Director, Credit Risk Management

Purpose and Job Summary:
We are seeking an Associate Director with 4-5 years of solid credit underwriting and investing experience. Knowledge of key principles of asset-based lending (ABL) or distressed assets including debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing is a plus. The role involves overseeing risk evaluation, structuring, and execution of liquidation strategies and ABL/DIP financing solutions, ensuring recovery maximization while mitigating downside exposure. The ideal candidate will combine financial acumen with strong restructuring knowledge and the ability to navigate complex distressed situations in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and manage risks associated with distressed asset liquidation and ABL/DIP financing transactions.
- Assess borrower financial condition, liquidity needs, and viability of restructuring or financing solutions.
- Support structuring and underwriting of ABL/DIP financing, including borrowing base collateral evaluation, covenant development and legal documentation.
- Conduct asset valuation, cash flow forecasting, and recovery analysis to inform liquidation or financing decisions.
- Collaborate with restructuring advisors, legal counsel, and investment teams to evaluate and mitigate risks in liquidation strategies.
- Monitor DIP loan performance and borrower compliance with financing terms.
- Prepare risk memos, scenario analyses, and presentations for senior management, and investment committees.
- Track market trends, bankruptcy cases, and distressed financing structures to manage risk in new transactions and existing portfolio.

Education, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 4-5 years of solid credit underwriting and investing experience, preference given to candidates with distressed asset management, restructuring, or special situations finance.
- Strong understanding of liquidation processes, collateral valuation, and recovery strategies.
- Proficiency in accounting, valuation, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and distressed debt analysis.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex transactions under tight timelines.
- Keen ability to construct concise, persuasive verbal and written investment opinions to present to senior management and investment committees.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with restructuring tools or legal processes preferred.
Annual base salary gross: $125k to $160k (IL only) . The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of the ORIX USA's salary for this position. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of ORIX USA's total compensation package for employees.
