PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Senior Machine and Tool Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving electrical failures and malfunctions in Computerized Numerical Controls (CNC) machines and other production equipment. This role involves repairing, modifying, installing, and maintaining electrical circuits, components, and systems on a variety of equipment including machine tools, cranes, alarms, transformers, controls, and high-voltage cables. Additionally, this role involves performing and collecting infrared thermography and vibration analysis data, inspecting and troubleshooting repaired parts to determine reparability, and assisting with machine characterization functions. The PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Senior Machine and Tool Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving electrical failures and malfunctions in Computerized Numerical Controls (CNC) machines and other production equipment. This role involves repairing, modifying, installing, and maintaining electrical circuits, components, and systems on a variety of equipment including machine tools, cranes, alarms, transformers, controls, and high-voltage cables. Additionally, this role involves performing and collecting infrared thermography and vibration analysis data, inspecting and troubleshooting repaired parts to determine reparability, and assisting with machine characterization functions. The technician will also support remote connectivity, assist with archiving CNC machines, and perform the removal and decommissioning of assets. The Machine Maintenance team supports diverse machine configurations such as multi-axis gantries, mill-turn applications, large vertical lathes, horizontal boring machines, and spin-forming lathes. This position requires collaboration across departments to ensure the optimal operation of complex machinery technician will also support remote connectivity, assist with archiving CNC machines, and perform the removal and decommissioning of assets. The Machine Maintenance team supports diverse machine configurations such as multi-axis gantries, mill-turn applications, large vertical lathes, horizontal boring machines, and spin-forming lathes. This position requires collaboration across departments to ensure the optimal operation of complex machinery.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: • Insulated pliers, screwdrivers, wrench, hammer, common hand tools, soldering iron, etc.
• Company provided electrical testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital meters, tachometers, brush recorder, Vacuum Tube Voltmeter (VTVM), multi-meters, capacitor testers, and solid-state analyzer.
• Advanced tools such as infrared thermography equipment, vibration analyzers, test lamps, power factor meters, KW meters, meggers, dielectric testing equipment, cable pulling equipment, battery tester, conduit benders, etc.
• Boom lifts, scissor lifts and electrical carts
• Safety gear including, ladders, safety belts, safety glasses, LOTO padlocks, hard hats, and other PPE as required.
MATERIAL: *
• Printed circuit boards, servo-valves, synchro systems, speed controllers, position feedback devices, PLCs, electro-hydraulically/pneumatic controlled automatic equipment, control relays, motor starters, AC & DC servo positioners.
• Conduit, wire, cable, tape, light fixtures, bulbs, distilled water, and various electrical replacement parts.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS: Provide guidance and direction to Electricians assisting with electrical installations, troubleshooting, and repairs of plant production machinery and equipment.
WORKING PROCEDURE:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT:
1. Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems for manufacturing equipment, including motors, drives, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), robotics, Computerized Numerical Controls (CNC) machines, and control panels.
2. Perform preventive maintenance, scheduled/unscheduled repairs, and predictive maintenance activities (including infrared thermography, vibration analysis, and oil analysis) on production tools, equipment, and machines to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
3. Ensure compliance with National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and all plant safety standards, including LockOut/TagOut (LOTO) and arc flash protection.
4. Work collaboratively with management, machine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), contractors, engineers, operations, and other maintenance personnel in a cross-functional team to support equipment maintenance, modifications, upgrades, and process improvements.
5. Inspect and troubleshoot repaired parts to assess reparability and assist with machine characterization functions.
6. Assist with the archiving of CNC machines data and support the removal and decommissioning of outdated assets.
7. Maintain machines' Direct Numerical Control (DNC) connectivity and CNC data integrity for assigned assets: program transfer, mapping, parameter/PLC/HMI backups, and restores.
8. Read, interpret, and follow work instructions, schematics, SOPs, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, OEM manuals, repair specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble, troubleshoot, and repair production tools, equipment, and machinery.
9. Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Work Order System (via PC or tablet device) to manage work order scheduling, documentation of troubleshooting, leverage troubleshooting guides/documentation, document labor reporting, material/part usage, and work order completion.
10. Adhere to assigned work order schedule.
11. Monitors spare parts inventory and perform cycle counts as needed.
12. Ensure troubleshooting pass downs are conducted among all shifts, involving both team members and management.
13. Demonstrate proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Work Order System (via PC or tablet device), Microsoft Office applications, and Northrop Grumman's systems.
14. Work independently or in a teams with minimal to zero supervision to complete assigned tasks.
15. Complete work orders while adhering to National and State electrical codes, Arc Flash NFPA-70E, CAL-OSHA, Northrop Grumman's safety practices (e.g., LOTO, fall protection, etc.), and environmental, health, & safety regulations.
16. Troubleshoot and repair PLC systems, AC/DC motors, VFDs, power supplies, control systems, motor generators, and fire alarm systems. Test high-voltage cables and equipment to assess condition and lifespan. Disassemble and repair or replace defective circuits, components, or units.
17. Support lean manufacturing initiatives, TPM (Total Production Maintenance), and reliability-centered maintenance programs to drive efficiency and cost savings.
18. Collaborate to the implementation of all relevant audit requirements as well as internal and implementation of countermeasures in case of deviations and improvement potentials.

Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED and electrician apprenticeship or technical training certification.
Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment
Computer skills for work order entries, reporting, and equipment documentation.
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree, technical diploma, or military training in Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.

10+ years of industrial electrical experience with progressive responsibility in senior or lead roles.

Advanced proficiency with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).

Hands-on experience with automation systems, robotics, CNC equipment, and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).

Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (infrared thermography, vibration analysis, etc.).

Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices, TPM, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.

Strong documentation and reporting skills to support root cause analysis, upgrades, and system improvements.

Proven record of enhancing equipment uptime, reliability, and cost efficiency in a manufacturing setting.
