Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineering and Integration Team Lead (Staff or Senior Staff level) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role, you'll be a dynamic Systems Engineering (SE) leader to drive the technical execution of a high visibility capability upgrade program. You will orchestrate all SE disciplines-Safety, Requirements & Verification, Specialty Engineering, and Configuration & Data Management-while ensuring the program meets schedule, cost, and performance objectives. This role demands a hands on technical expert who can also act as a catalyst for process improvement, leveraging deep experience with IBM DOORS (including DXL scripting) to maintain rigorous requirements traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
Roles and Responsibilities will include:
Leadership of SE Functions
Direct day to day execution of Safety, Requirements & Verification, Specialty Engineering, and Configuration & Data Management activities.
Mentor and develop a multidisciplinary SE team, fostering a collaborative, results oriented culture.
Technical Review Management
Own the planning, preparation, and execution of System Requirements Review (SRR), System Functional Review (SFR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR)

Ensure review deliverables are complete, technically sound, and aligned with program milestones.
Risk & Opportunity Management
Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical risks; capture and exploit program opportunities.
Maintain a living risk register and provide status updates to senior leadership.
Proposal & Estimating Support
Contribute technical expertise to long term effort proposals, cost estimates, and schedule forecasts.
Earned Value Management (EVM)
Interface with the project controls team to track cost and schedule performance against baselines; provide corrective actions when variances arise.
Requirements Management (DOORS)
Ensure requirements are captured, traced, and verified throughout the lifecycle.
Develop and maintain DXL scripts to automate routine tasks, generate custom reports, and improve data consistency.
Process Improvement
Conduct periodic SE process reviews; identify bottlenecks and implement best practice enhancements.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., root cause analysis, lessons learned capture, tool integration).
Expected Skills
Advanced DOORS user (DXL scripting a plus)
Experience with BOE development
Earned Value Management
Experience briefing or leading technical reviews with USG Customers
This role can be filled at either the Staff or Senior Staff Level based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
At a Staff Level:
Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 12 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least 10 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD and at least 8 years of relevant military / professional experience
At a Sr. Staff Level:
Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 14 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least 12 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD and at least 10 years of relevant military / professional experience
At Both Levels:
Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced STEM degree
Expert user of IBM DOORS with demonstrated DXL scripting capability
Strong knowledge of safety engineering, Requirements & Verification, and specialty engineering domains
Leadership and team-lead experience
Risk Analysis
Prior experience with capability upgrade programs
Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $166,500.00 - $249,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
