Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Staff Systems Engineer/Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position is located in Linthicum, MD.
This individual will lead a cross-discipline engineering team typically greater than 15 people, overseeing System ATP, flight test, Qualification testing, and general systems integration. The selected candidate will perform in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings. The selected candidate is expected to be self-motivated, highly-organized, and detail oriented and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead an engineering team working to transition from EMD, Integration & Test to production for a very important sector priority program with many time-critical elements and high management visibility.
Deliver all product team deliverables on time and within cost, while meeting contractual programmatic and technical requirements and stakeholder expectations, and measure and report Earned Value (EV) performance.
Ensure technical quality, performance, cost and schedule for product team content on the program, in alignment with Engineering and Division processes, program policies, and industry best standards
Adhere to the IPT Statement of Work (SOW) and perform rigorous change management in coordination with program leadership
Identification of resources, including staffing, required to complete product team deliverables, and communicate the need in a timely manner to enable onboarding of the resources early enough to meet program objectives. Coordinate with Functional Management to staff the IPT.
Provide support as an interface to the customer on details pertaining to their product scope.
Conduct thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization
A current/active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program clearance is required
Basic Qualifications for Staff Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, a Master's degree with 10 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 8 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
US citizenship is required
Active Secret Clearance or higher and ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance is required
2 years minimum background in RF hardware integration, testing and/or troubleshooting
1 year of experience in team (or project) leadership in one of the following areas: IPT Lead, deputy IPT Lead, test, hardware or technical, integration and test, test design, RF hardware testing and troubleshooting, or manufacturing / operations support
Manage and conduct technical reviews
Systems I&T experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with cross functional teams to drive test and production improvements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation experience and the ability to work seamlessly with a diverse community of engineers
Experience reporting project status to program, functional management or customers
3+ year of experience in team (or project) leadership in one of the following areas: IPT Lead, deputy IPT Lead, test, hardware or technical, integration and test, test design, RF hardware testing and troubleshooting, or manufacturing / operations support

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
