Defense Systems is currently seeking a Staff Missile Systems IPT Lead to support our systems engineering efforts on our Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile - Extended Range (AARGM-ER) Program and work with our talented Advanced Weapons team in Northridge, CA.
This candidate will plan and execute systems engineering efforts per Statement of Work (SOW) for the program. This position will require close collaboration with team members of other projects to leverage on existing technology as well as working with the program team to innovate system architecture to adapt to the industry and customer's needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive systems engineering experience throughout the whole lifecycle of a missile/defense product, from concept/proposal/estimate through production/sustainment as well as managing cost and schedule.
Relocation assistance, although not guaranteed, may be available.
The selected candidate for this position is required to be on-site in Northridge, CA.
In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):
Lead system engineering team to support proposal and program planning; develop basis of estimates and support the development of the technical volume
Identify and collaborate with functional managers on staffing needs on the program
Identify and allocate resources to best support the proposal and program activities
Perform requirements development, management, analysis, and traceability, to translate customer requirements and CONOPS into systems requirements, and further allocate to lower-level requirements
Perform functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions with respect to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance
Lead the effort of system/subsystems integration, test, and requirements verification activities
Define and track system technical performance measurement
Generate well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents
Prepare system engineering materials during System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed
Ensure proper engineering rigor across engineering design activities via process, and documentation/modeling practices (IAW Functional Best Practices and Principles and Operating Practices (PrOP))
Collaborate cross-functionally/IPTs to establish and maintain coherent information among team members.
Manage and track technical baseline, cost, and schedule pertaining to systems engineering products
Support the PM and Chief Engineer to make well-structed decisions for program execution.
Collaborate internally and externally for program execution
Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met
Manage critical subcontractors for the developing and testing of tactical missile technologies and delivery of quality products
Basic qualifications Staff Missile Systems IPT Level 5 :
Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of twelve (12) years of systems engineering experience; will consider a Master of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of ten (10) years of systems engineering experience
Experience in technical leadership, leading a group of 7 or larger
Experience in requirements decomposition, integration, verification planning, and requirement sell-off
Experience in qualification of new / modified product for Block Upgrades
Must have experience in full systems engineering lifecycle for complex systems
Experience in communicating with all levels of peers, management, and customers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion
Experience in successfully managing cost and schedule on projects.
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the defense industry or weapon systems
Experience in system security, cybersecurity (not IT network/system), and anti-tamper
Experience in Verification and Validation
Experience with Digital Engineering
Primary Level Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $256,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
