This position is located in Roy, UT supporting the Sentinel program.

What You'll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will join the Sentinel Facility Electrical Design (Power) Team and contribute to the creation of technical design documents and drawings for launch and control facilities. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate technical capability in producing code compliant drawings and documents for facility design as well as the ability to identify and drive design gap resolution through interface with engineering. Demonstrated ability to foster diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills are desired. This candidate should feel comfortable providing critical, actionable feedback of designs as well as giving regular status updates to team leadership.
Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Drafting & Schematic Creation: Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, SolidWorks) to create detailed 2D and 3D wiring diagrams, lighting, power and grounding drawing sheets, panel layouts, and one-line schematics

Documentation: Prepare technical specifications, Bill of Materials (BOM) lists, installation guides, and "as-built" documents based on field markups

Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure electrical designs integrate seamlessly with structural and mechanical systems

Standard Compliance: Ensure all plans strictly adhere to national (e.g., NEC) and local electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards

Drawing Translation: Convert rough sketches, concepts and engineering specifications into accurate technical drawings/blueprints for construction crews

Model Management: Maintain and update CAD libraries, templates, and version control for project files

Quality Checks: Perform detailed reviews of completed drawings for accuracy, dimensional compatibility, and adherence to drafting standards

Revision: Incorporate "redline" changes from engineers or field adjustments into the master set of drawings

Basic Qualifications:

12 Years with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Year with PhD

A bachelor's degree in electrical drafting, drafting design, electrical engineering, or similar

A minimum of ten years' experience as an electrical drafter

Mastery of AutoCAD Electrical, Revit or similar software for creating 2D schematics & drawings and 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM)

Familiarity with and ability to adhere to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable government codes and standards

Ability to train new designers and/or engineers in the use of AutoCAD/Revit

EPLM/CPLM experience for maintaining drawing files

Ability to provide high quality finished products through attention to detail

Required:

Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications

American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) certification.

Ability to use AI-assisted design tools to speed up prototyping and catch errors.

Experience with ETAP (for power analysis and short-circuit studies).

An understanding of load calculations, power distribution and voltage drops.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
