Based in Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial part of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to fulfill global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally, enhancing performance. C2BMC is vital for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The purpose of the Regional Applications Systems Engineer Coordinator is to serve as the primary software technical liaison between Regional Applications (RA) cross-functional product teams and Systems Engineering, Verification, Integration, and Test RMAs for system engineering-related efforts. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating RA efforts for software updates, end-to-end systems engineering, requirements flow analysis, verification & validation, and test event activities, providing systems engineering-focused expertise and leadership to ensure a disciplined software development approach to the definition, development, and analysis of system capabilities.
Essential Functions:
The successful candidate will have professional experience in Software Development, Systems Engineering, Verification Engineering, or related disciplines
Participation in verification and validation planning or execution (creating test plans, managing test cases, tracking defects)
Effective written and oral communication with both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to collaborate with senior subject matter experts to create designs that enable development within applications
The candidate must have extensive experience leading teams
Review Support Interface Control Document (ICD), communication status, upcoming milestones, and dependencies
Support the V&V test plans and assist in coordinating test execution across test labs and cross-functional teams
Coordinate problem reports with Solution Chiefs, conduct customer reviews, and oversee releases to identify issues and recommend future solutions
Assist with staffing activities such as reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and selecting candidates
The successful candidate will support Solution Leadership to ensure that design documents and artifacts are completed for the Product Teams when required
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, government, and customer representatives to support critical daily operations and distributed multi-element deliveries and activities
Basic Qualifications:
Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance or higher at the time of application, which is required to start
Familiar supporting requirements flow and reviews, communication status, upcoming milestones, and dependencies
Familiar supporting the preparation of Bases of Estimates (BOEs), Engineering Estimates (EEs), proposal responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Iteration Planning or similar activities
Experience assisting management with scheduling and technical aspects of the Regional Applications
Familiarity with large scale software development programs
Experience with requirements elicitation, analysis, functional allocation, interface control documents (ICDs), OR basics of SysML/UML
Familiarity with schedule development (MS Project, Primavera, Smartsheet), task tracking (Jira, Azure DevOps), and resource planning
Experience with Technical writing, presentation design, stakeholder engagement, and meeting facilitation
Familar with Agile/SAFe processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as Technical Lead, Software Development Lead, Systems Engineering SME, Verification Engineering, or Systems Engineering leader in the Missile Defense, Space, or Link 16 Domain
Document control (SharePoint, Confluence, CMIS), dashboard development (Power BI, Tableau), metrics collection
Knowledge of missile defense systems such as U.S. Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), the sea-based Aegis system, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS), space-based systems, and Link 16 domain.
Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, verification, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
Experience in identifying and defining system capabilities; communicating these capabilities to a diverse group of software developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users; and creating artifacts to document and manage the achievement of the system capabilities
Experience working with a senior team to develop software designs based on systems engineering products and artifacts
Experience in developing system engineering, software engineering, verification engineering, or architecture artifacts (e.g., specifications, interface control documents, use cases, system architecture descriptions, trade studies, etc.)
Experience in creating briefings, reviewing architecture designs and artifacts, and presenting at DoD Customer Design Reviews
Experience as a technical leader in DoD Systems Engineering, Verification Engineering, or Software Development efforts
Knowledge of ICDs, IDDs, requirements creation, or verification tasks
Knowledge of DevSecOps and/or Digital Engineering Transformation (DET) methodologies and solutions
Familiarity with Agile development and Scrum practices

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
