Based in Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial part of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan missile defense operations systematically, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally, enhancing performance. C2BMC is vital for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

This position will serve as the Lead Scrum Master for the C2BMC Battle Management Sensor Resource Management (BM/SRM) Product Team, providing Agile leadership and coordination across multiple Scrum teams supporting the BM/SRM software product. The Lead Scrum Master will report directly to the team's Product Owner and will support execution across four Scrum teams within the BM/SRM product area.
Essential Functions:

Will collaborate closely with team Scrum Masters and development teams during iteration planning and sprint execution

Will help ensure backlog readiness, work decomposition, execution, and tracking

Will consistently apply Agile practices across teams and support coordination among multiple teams

Will mentor the Scrum Masters supporting each team, facilitate cross-team collaboration, and assist in identifying and removing impediments that impact team performance

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Strong background in supporting software engineering on DoD programs

Previous experience as a software engineer, systems engineer, or other technical contributor supporting a software development team

Experience working as a Scrum Master in Agile software development teams

Extensive knowledge of Agile methodologies and Scrum practices

Experience coordinating work across multiple Scrum teams

Experience using Atlassian tools, such as Jira and Confluence (or similar tools), to support Agile software development teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a technical lead or senior developer in a software development organization

Experience with modern software development practices like CI/CD pipelines, version control workflows, and automated testing

Experience breaking down Agile features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria

Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment

Experience leading Agile teams supporting complex DoD software systems

Experience in Agile coaching

Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM)

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
