Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is currently seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer Signal Image Processing functioning as the primary Subject Matter Expert for Digital RF Processor (DRFP) subsystem for the ARGRM/ARGRM-ER Program while simultaneously serving as lead engineer supporting the ARH subsystem integration and test activities.

In this critical role, candidates expected to lead product redesign effort, to conduct product performance simulation, verification, validation. Experience with system architecture and design, sensor performance simulation and analysis are necessary as this position will require technical leadership and know-how in developing and transitioning concepts from Technology Development to Engineering Manufacturing Development (EMD) to Full Rate Production. Skills and experience in multi-discipline engineering, systems integration and test are preferred.
There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position.
Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Northridge, CA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the SME for DRFP, mmW & ARH subsystem
Act as the primary point of contact for the GEU subsystem, working closely with program management, supply chain management, and engineering functional management to align the technical execution and deliverables with overall business objectives.
Provide clear technical direction to the cross-functional engineering team, ensuring development and production goals are met, risks are mitigated, and issues are driven to timely closure.
Drive the definition, development, and allocation of requirements in support of design and manufacturability improvements and ensure the seamless integration of upgrades into production programs.
Act as the technical authority to technical readiness reviews, engineering change orders and related technical data package revisions, root-cause and correction actions (RCCA), and continuous improvement activities.
Coach and develop team by providing an environment that encourages ongoing professional growth.
Basic Qualifications:
8 Year with BS. 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
Prior experience as technical lead in research and development of Electronic Warfare, RADAR, Laser, or other RF-centric systems and subsystems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with related disciplines and teams.
Excellent problem-solving abilities with a track record of developing innovative solutions.
US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DOD TOP Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
Completed Technical Leadership Training program is a plus
Experience in Algorithm development for missiles, radar or electronic warfare system or subsystem
Profession in MATLAB, Python, software tools/
Experience in transition from Technology Development to EMD, EMD to Limited Rate Production and product life-cycle engineering.
Primary Level Salary Range: $156,400.00 - $234,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
