This position will be at our Plymouth, Minnesota location. This senior role combines strategic portfolio management, market and customer strategy, capture support, and cross-functional leadership to drive revenue, competitive positioning, and profitable lifecycle management of the product line. The ideal candidate has proven experience in the defense or munitions sector, strong portfolio strategy experience, and a demonstrated record of translating market insight into business results.

Key Responsibilities

Define and own the medium caliber ammunition portfolio strategy and roadmap in alignment with corporate objectives and customer needs.
Lead market analysis, competitor assessment, and customer segmentation to identify growth opportunities and strategic priorities.
Drive go-to-market and capture strategies for key opportunities (e.g., government, prime contractors, international partners), supporting RFI/RFP responses and proposal development.
Create and maintain business cases, pricing models, revenue forecasts, and portfolio KPIs; present recommendations and updates to senior leadership.
Work closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, and program management to ensure feasible offerings, manage risk, and support program execution.
Build and maintain senior customer and partner relationships, act as principal point of contact for strategic accounts and partners.
Lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders to prioritize investments, product upgrades, and lifecycle decisions.
Mentor and develop junior business development staff; provide thought leadership on market trends, policy impacts, and competitive strategy.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policies related to defense contracting, export controls, and government procurement (coordinate with legal/compliance teams).

Basic Qualifications

Must have at least 12 years of experience. Will consider those with a bachelors degree and at least 8 years of experience or those with a masters degree and at least 6 years of experience.
8+ years of progressive business development, portfolio management, or capture experience in defense, munitions, or related aerospace/defense sectors.
Demonstrated experience leading a product or portfolio strategy with measurable revenue, margin, or market share growth.
Strong track record supporting and winning government or prime contractor opportunities (familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, solicitations, and proposal development).
Excellent financial acumen: business case development, pricing strategy, forecasting, and P&L understanding.
Superior stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive-level presentations and negotiation.
Experience working effectively with engineering, operations, supply chain, and legal teams.
Ability to travel as required (typical expectation: 25%).
Must be able to obtain an interim clearance at start, US citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related field strongly preferred, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Prior experience specifically with ammunition or medium caliber product lines.
Experience with international business development, foreign military sales, or export control processes.
Existing industry relationships with primes, government program offices, or procurement authorities.
Active secret clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
