Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman CIDO - Database Operations has an immediate need for a SQL Server Database Administrator. The DBA selected will provide MS SQL Server database support for business application systems, primarily inside closed areas in our Melbourne FL office. This role will be 100% onsite. This individual will apply and develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Work is performed without appreciable direction and exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results. Additionally, the DBA may create standards and/or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.
Primary duties include:
Perform database maintenance tasks to support application changes and ensure integrity and efficient performance of the databases. (Typical maintenance tasks include backup, recovery, migration, space management, structural changes, and performance tuning)
Participate in the research and resolution of database problems.
Research and install DBMS software packages.
Document and improve work processes.
Provide thorough coordination with customers, application developers, customers, and other IT groups.
Analytical tasks include but are not limited to:
Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.
Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.
Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
Maintain security and integrity controls.
Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization.
Develop stored procedures and/or triggers
This open requisition may be filled by a level 2 (early career) or level 3 (mid-career) candidate.
Basic Qualifications for level 2:
2 years of relevant IT experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 0 years of experience with a relevant Master's degree.
Experience as an MS SQL DBA
Sufficient understanding of MS SQL versions 2016, 2017 and 2019
Login and DB security experience
Performance tuning and indexing experience
Must have an Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Must have Basic Windows OS knowledge
Basic Qualifications for level 3:
5 years of relevant IT experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
Proven experience as an MS SQL DBA
Sufficient understanding of MS SQL versions 2016, 2017 and 2019
Login and DB security experience
Performance tuning and indexing experience
Must have an Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Must have Basic Windows OS knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, Advanced Degrees are a plus
Graph technology database experience a plus
Proficiency in batch scripting
Proficiency in Other RDBMS systems
9 years of relevant IT Database experience
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance is a plus
* Security+ certification is a plus
Primary Level Salary Range: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
