As a Software Engineering Manager - Manager Level 2 located in Dulles, VA, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

This Software Engineering Manager role will be approximately 75% program & technical work and approximately 25% functional management work managing a segment of a program or a function. This role is responsible for the direct supervision & management of embedded software staff, and for providing objective-oriented directions to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract

Assignments received in objective oriented terms

Full working knowledge of procedures and practices

Overseeing projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group

Interpreting and executing policies and procedures that directly impact team performance, morale, and effectiveness

Recommending modifications to operating policies

Ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and within budget

Functioning as an advisor to team members regarding tasks, projects, and operations

Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts

Conducting briefings and participating in technical meetings for internal/external representatives

Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math - or related technical area) with 8+ years of Software related experience with a high proficiency in technical problem solving to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and control account monitoring - OR - Master's degree of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math - or related technical area) with 6+ years of of Software related experience with a high proficiency in technical problem solving to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and control account monitoring

Requires an active U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access [US Citizenship required]

Experience in requirements analysis, modeling and simulation, embedded software development, and verification and validation at subsystem and system level

Demonstrated software engineering, controls, or systems engineering leadership experience, preferably with experience in Space Flight Software or Simulation Software.

Ability to form strong partnerships to ensure lockstep coordination with adjacent discipline areas and program manager leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

Active TS clearance with current/active SCI [TS/SCI]

Master of Science in Engineering or other STEM discipline

Demonstrated excellence in a technical leadership/management role with 15+ team members

Experience with Earned Value Management

Working knowledge of Staffing, Engineering Metrics and Training resources, processes, and tools

Demonstrated excellence in requirements analysis, modeling and simulation, verification and validation at subsystem and system level or Demonstrated vehicle development, mission systems integration, ground and flight test validation experience

Experience in successfully developing and integrating software and hardware solutions for space applications

Experience in system and subsystem specification development including verification methodologies

Experience implementing action plans based on metrics and/or root cause/corrective actions

Hands-on technical experience with spacecraft or satellite related systems

Proven experience leading technically diverse teams, possibly across multiple locations

Experience with Space Flight Software, Simulation Software

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,100.00 - $241,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
