Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking a T02 Software Engineer or T03 Principal Software Engineer to support our Design & Analysis (D&A) Methods and Processes team. The team develops new engineering methodologies (including artificial intelligence), creates and maintains in-house software, and incorporates it all in the digital environment. This is an on-site position supporting the Propulsion Systems Division at our facility located in Promontory, UT.

Role Description and Responsibilities:
The D&A Methods and Processes engineer creates innovative methodologies to solve complex engineering challenges, implements solutions into modern efficient software architectures compatible with the emerging digital environment, and develops Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to improve solid rocket motor designs and analyses that reduce lifecycle costs. Responsibilities include following the established standards for software development, collaborating with other Team members, contributing to Team discussions, and seeking innovative ideas to solve difficult problems.

Job Duties:

Design, develop, code, test, debug, and document engineering software

Participate in all aspects of software development lifecycle activities in an Agile environment

Develop advanced methodologies together with engineers and analysts

Implement AI solutions in engineering processes

Follow established standard work requirements and guidelines for software development, verification, and validation

Work independently and under general supervision as part of multi-disciplinary teams

This requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal Software Engineer (Level 3) depending on the candidate's experience relative to the qualifications detailed below as well as the interview assessment.
Software Engineer 2 Basic Qualifications:

B.S. degree in an engineering or science discipline and 2 years of experience or M.S. degree in an engineering or science discipline

Experience in software programming and scripting languages (e.g. C++, Python, MATLAB)

Familiarity with AI methodologies and their implementation

Knowledge and/or experience across multiple engineering disciplines and their interactions

Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant experience in modern software programming and scripting languages

Experience with agile/scrum software development

Experience with AI methods and their applications

Functional knowledge of commercial and in-house design and analysis software packages and how they interface with each other

Working knowledge and/or experience across multiple engineering disciplines and their interactions as they apply to solid rocket motors

Experience in solid rocket motor design and operation

Demonstrated success in a team environment, leading and contributing as an individual

Highly self-motivated with strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources

Current DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application.

Principal Software Engineer 3 Basic Qualifications:

B.S. degree in an engineering or science discipline and 5 years of experience or M.S. degree in an engineering or science discipline and 3 years of experience

Experience in software programming and scripting languages (e.g. C++, Python, MATLAB)

Familiarity with AI methodologies and their implementation

Knowledge and/or experience across multiple engineering disciplines and their interactions

Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant experience in modern software programming and scripting languages

Experience with agile/scrum software development

Experience with AI methods and their applications

* This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
